As a Workers Compensation Assistant, you will play a vital role in managing workers' compensation claims efficiently and ensuring compliance with all related processes. You will collaborate closely with hospital staff, insurance carriers, and injured employees to facilitate the claims process, promoting a safe and supportive work environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for injured employees, HR, attorneys, case managers, and insurance carriers.
  • Ensure timely communication regarding treatment plans to referral sources, with follow-up as needed.
  • Communicate approval, denial, or delay decisions to patients, physicians, and clinical teams to keep claims progressing smoothly.
  • Coordinate and schedule Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) and record reviews with physicians, ensuring pre-payment for physical services and obtaining records/films as required.
  • Monitor program efficiency, working with the medical director and teams to recommend and implement process improvements. Generate program reports as needed.
  • Educate and mentor administrative and clinical staff at all regional locations on relevant workers' compensation laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Develop dashboards to review workers' compensation volume and referral sources regularly.
  • Partner with HR and medical staff to create and implement return-to-work programs for injured employees and monitor their progress during the transition.
  • Collaborate with the hospital's safety committee to identify and address workplace hazards.
  • Greet patients, answer phone inquiries, and gather appropriate documentation when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree required.
  • Prior experience in workers' compensation, insurance claims, or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with computerized scheduling systems is advantageous.
