The Grounds Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating activities of employees involved in maintaining the grounds and ensuring golf course turf is in prime condition for play. This position focuses on guest and employee satisfaction, maintaining operational standards, and managing the department's budget.
Education and Experience:
- Option 1: Associate degree from an accredited university in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related major with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Option 2: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related major with no prior work experience required.
Core Work Activities:
Day-to-Day Operations Management:
- Evaluate and implement new technologies, equipment, and supplies.
- Coordinate with golf professional staff and tournament coordinators for event preparations.
- Prioritize and schedule tasks such as fertilizing, mowing, seeding, and pest control.
- Ensure water, fertilizers, and other care needs are met for healthy plant growth.
- Maintain safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee the overall look of the golf course, including turf management and landscaping.
- Maintain and manage equipment inventory and ensure optimal functionality.
- Record keeping for compliance and operational needs.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Emphasize safety procedures and ensure employee understanding and adherence.
- Set goals, organize, and prioritize work to meet departmental objectives.
- Foster teamwork, mutual respect, and cooperation among staff members.
- Supervise, train, and monitor performance of team members.
- Communicate performance expectations and conduct orientation and training programs.
- Support cross-training to enhance team flexibility.
- Manage progressive discipline and recognition programs.
Customer Service and Guest Relations:
- Create a welcoming and positive atmosphere for guests.
- Prioritize guest satisfaction and service excellence in all department meetings.
- Empower employees to deliver outstanding service.
- Ensure quality service that meets or exceeds guest expectations.
Human Resource and Training Responsibilities:
- Identify educational needs and facilitate training programs.
- Assist in interviewing and hiring qualified candidates.

- Support employee recognition and contribute to the investigation of incidents as needed.
