The Student Athletics Director at City College of New York will report to the Vice President of Student Affairs and lead the college's athletic programs, overseeing intercollegiate athletics, intramural sports, facilities, and related staff. This position emphasizes a comprehensive approach to the college's athletic program, including safety, compliance, budgeting, and student engagement, all while upholding a culture of inclusivity, sportsmanship, and student wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Athletic Program Oversight: Administer and supervise intercollegiate, intramural, and recreational sports programs, ensuring adherence to NCAA and CUNY Athletics Conference regulations.
- Facilities Management: Coordinate with facilities management to maintain safe and well-equipped athletic spaces.
- Budgeting & Fundraising: Develop and manage budgets, seek additional funding through grants, alumni support, and other channels.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to safety protocols and compliance with Title IX standards by coordinating training and education with the Title IX Officer.
- Strategic Development: Create a strategic plan aligning the athletic department's goals with the college’s mission, continually assessing program effectiveness.
- Student Athlete Support: Collaborate with academic and wellness staff to support athletes’ academic and personal development.
Collaboration & Community Engagement:
- Work with internal college departments, including Counseling, Health Services, and Student Life, to integrate athletics into broader wellness initiatives.
- Serve on committees, such as the Faculty/Student Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics and the Board of Directors of the City College Alumni Varsity Association, and work with alumni associations.
Reporting & Data Management:
- Prepare reports for internal and external entities, manage data and statistics for departmental assessment, and handle publicity with communications staff.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in athletic administration.
- Skills: Proven expertise in strategic planning, compliance, budget management, and staff supervision within a collegiate athletic setting.
Compensation & Benefits:
