The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for ensuring the proper decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and trays. In this role, you will work closely with the surgical team to prepare instruments and equipment needed for specific procedures, especially in high-pressure situations such as emergency or complex surgeries. Your tasks will include decontaminating instruments, assembling case carts, and sterilizing tools, ensuring all instruments are ready for use in the operating room.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instrument Decontamination & Sterilization:
    • Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment to prepare them for sterilization.
    • Assemble and sterilize instrument trays for specific procedures.
    • Ensure that all instruments and equipment meet the required sterilization standards.
  • Case Cart Assembly:
    • Assemble case carts tailored to specific surgical procedures based on the needs of the surgical team.
  • Collaboration with Surgical Team:
    • Respond to time-critical demands from surgeons, nurses, and operating room team members, ensuring instruments are prepared and available for use.
    • Maintain a high level of accuracy in a high-pressure environment, especially during emergency surgeries.

Position Requirements

  • Education:

    • Minimum: High School Diploma.
    • Preferred: High School Diploma with additional training acquired through work experience or education in sterilization and processing techniques.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum: No previous experience required.
    • Preferred: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience in sterile processing or a similar healthcare role.
