Disbelief is looking for a Senior Technical Designer to join its team, blending the worlds of game design and engineering to solve complex challenges for both players and developers. In this role, you will be responsible for leading projects, mentoring fellow designers, and solving technical problems with innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will be versatile, comfortable with code and content creation, and able to assess the impact of changes on gameplay and functionality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical solutions: Solve problems from a senior designer's perspective and predict the efficacy of proposed solutions.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior technical designers, sharing knowledge and fostering growth within the team.
  • Client communication: Regularly update clients on team progress and address any issues or challenges.
  • Innovation: Propose new workflows, systems, and solutions, and experiment with new software and techniques.
  • Champion quality: Advocate for both player experience and developer needs, ensuring the highest quality standards are met.

Skills & Requirements

  • Gameplay & game design: In-depth understanding of gameplay systems, design principles, and industry standards.
  • Scripting & systems creation: Expertise in writing scripts and developing systems from scratch.
  • Code comprehension: Ability to read and understand code (C/C++/etc.), and collaborate with engineers to debug and discuss implementations.
  • Content & development pipelines: Experience in creating content pipelines by integrating multiple technologies.
  • Degree or equivalent experience: Degree in Tech Design, Game Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • AAA game content production: Proven ability to produce high-quality game content at the AAA level.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly share your work with the team.

Experience:

    5+ years in game development

      3+ years working with Unreal Engine

        At least one shipped title using Unreal Engine

        Bonus skills:

          Experience with UI/UX design and implementation

          Experience working on console titles (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, AR/VR)


          Technologies

          • Primary tools: Unreal Engine (with experience in custom game engines)
          • Primary platforms: PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, VR/AR devices
          • Additional: Constantly researching and learning new/old technologies to adapt to diverse technical challenges
