About the Role:
The Senior Quality Specialist – Fruits and Vegetables is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of produce from sourcing through to delivery to the customer. This involves collaborating with suppliers, internal teams, and managing quality control processes throughout the supply chain, ensuring compliance with regulations and aligning with customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance and Control:
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards for the inspection and testing of fruits and vegetables.
- Conduct regular quality checks across the supply chain, including farms, warehouses, and distribution centers.
- Analyze quality data to identify trends, potential risks, and areas for improvement.
Supplier and Grower Management:
- Collaborate with suppliers and growers to ensure compliance with Careem's quality standards and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular supplier audits, providing feedback and guidance on quality improvement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Compliance and Certification:
- Ensure all produce complies with food safety regulations, industry standards, and internal company policies.
- Stay updated on changes in regulations and communicate them to relevant stakeholders.
Team Leadership and Training:
- Lead and mentor a team of quality specialists, providing training and development opportunities.
- Conduct training sessions for internal teams and suppliers on quality standards, food safety, and best practices.
- Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the organization.
Problem Resolution:
- Investigate and resolve quality issues and customer complaints regarding fruits and vegetables.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Document and report on quality incidents, trends, and corrective actions.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Lead initiatives to improve the quality and shelf-life of fruits and vegetables through innovative techniques.
- Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain teams to test and implement new products and processes.
- Identify opportunities to enhance sustainability and efficiency in the supply chain.
What You’ll Need:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field.
- Experience: 4-5 years of experience in quality assurance within the produce or food industry, specifically focusing on fruits and vegetables.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and certification processes.
- Supplier management and auditing experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
