About the Role:

The Senior Quality Specialist – Fruits and Vegetables will ensure that all produce aligns with Careem's high-quality standards, from sourcing to delivery. This role involves collaborating with suppliers and internal teams, overseeing the quality of produce throughout the supply chain, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer expectations.

Key responsibilities:

Quality Assurance and Control:

• Develop and implement quality standards for inspecting and testing fruits and vegetables.
• Perform regular quality checks across the supply chain, including farms, warehouses, and distribution centers.
• Analyze quality data to identify trends, improvement opportunities, and potential risks.

Supplier and Grower Management:

• Collaborate with suppliers and growers to meet Careem’s quality standards and industry best practices.
• Conduct audits of suppliers, providing feedback and guidance on quality improvement.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers to foster continuous improvement.

Compliance and Certification:

• Ensure all products comply with food safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
• Stay informed on regulatory changes and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.

Team Leadership and Training:

• Lead and mentor a team of quality specialists, offering training and development opportunities.
• Conduct training sessions for internal teams and suppliers on quality standards and food safety.
• Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the organization.

Problem Resolution:

• Investigate and resolve quality issues and customer complaints related to fruits and vegetables.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Document and report on quality incidents and corrective actions.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

• Drive initiatives to improve the quality and shelf-life of fruits and vegetables through innovative techniques.
• Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain teams to test and implement new products and processes.
• Identify opportunities to enhance the sustainability and efficiency of the supply chain.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Agriculture, Horticulture, or related fields.
• 4-5 years of quality assurance experience, particularly in the produce or food industry, with a focus on fruits and vegetables.
• Deep knowledge of food safety regulations, quality standards, and certification processes.
• Experience in supplier management and auditing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
