Duties and Responsibilities

This position combines technical and resource services in designing, installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing wide-area, local-area, voice, and wireless networks for the University. It involves significant client interaction, providing technical support and assistance on various infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Plan, implement, and maintain voice, data, and wireless network hardware and software.
  2. Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.
  3. Recommend and execute network upgrades and patches.
  4. Provide field support to clients as required.
  5. Maintain up-to-date network documentation, including issue resolution logs.
  6. Collaborate on infrastructure projects with network engineers.
  7. Coordinate hardware and software installation or repair with vendors.
  8. Mentor junior staff in problem-solving, troubleshooting, and delivering quality service.
  9. Ensure system connectivity and compatibility in collaboration with team members.
  10. Evaluate new technologies and prepare proposals for adoption.
  11. Handle additional projects and duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree or 4–6 years of experience in telecommunications/networking.
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficient in TCP/IP, OSI layers, and network hardware/software troubleshooting; familiarity with Cisco IOS is preferred.
