Key Responsibilities
- Design lighting scenarios that align with the art direction and exceed client expectations.
- Propose new ideas for realistic lighting schemes that enhance mood and art direction.
- Collaborate with the Art Director, client representatives, and other departments to achieve the desired quality and mood.
- Ensure visual consistency and maintain the balance between performance and image quality.
- Verify and improve lighting quality after changes by other departments and ensure bugs are fixed.
- Optimize lighting using the latest techniques to maximize the potential of game engines.
- Estimate and assign tasks to the Lighting Art team, while monitoring progress and making adjustments as needed.
- Contribute to a team-oriented environment and provide constructive feedback to enhance work quality.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a Lighting Artist in the game industry, with experience in senior or lead roles.
- At least one shipped game title.
- Extensive knowledge of color theory, lighting, and composition.
- Expertise in real-time and pre-rendered techniques.
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine 4 (UE4) lighting techniques. Knowledge of Unreal Engine 5 (UE5), including Lumen, VSM, and Nanite, is a bonus.
- Proficiency with DCC tools such as Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender, as well as 2D/3D art tools like Photoshop, Substance Painter, and Substance Designer.
- Attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to solve problems resourcefully.
- Self-motivation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to give and receive feedback, and adapt to project needs.
