Secretary

SEIU Local⠀1000 is a⠀cutting-edge⠀union⠀representing⠀96,000⠀California⠀state⠀employees⠀and is⠀recruiting⠀a⠀Secretary⠀to work in⠀its Union⠀Resource⠀Center in⠀Ontario,⠀California.⠀The Union⠀Resource⠀Center is⠀a fast⠀paced work⠀environment⠀that⠀requires⠀excellent⠀organizational⠀and⠀administrative⠀skills.

DUTIES: The secretary performs the full range of difficult and responsible secretarial duties including, but not limited to, the following:

• Types in⠀draft or⠀final form⠀on either⠀computers,⠀typewriters⠀or word⠀processors⠀from⠀notes,⠀handwritten⠀materials⠀or⠀transcription⠀using⠀correct⠀form.
• Records⠀and⠀prepares⠀minutes⠀from⠀meetings.
• Prepares⠀responses⠀to routine⠀correspondence.
• Acts⠀as⠀administrative⠀aide to⠀assigned⠀staff.
• Handles⠀meeting⠀arrangements⠀and⠀reservations.
• Operates⠀a⠀telephone⠀console,⠀taking⠀messages⠀and/or⠀directing⠀calls to⠀the⠀appropriate⠀extension.
• Processes⠀various⠀forms and⠀applications⠀and⠀responds⠀to⠀members’⠀inquiries.
• Establishes⠀and⠀maintains⠀complex⠀filing⠀systems.
• Prepares⠀tables,⠀charts and⠀graphs and⠀assists in⠀compiling⠀and⠀tabulating⠀statistical⠀data.
• Handles⠀routine⠀copying⠀and⠀distribution⠀of⠀materials.
• Knowledge⠀of a⠀variety of⠀software⠀application⠀programs.
• Performs⠀other⠀related⠀duties as⠀required.

ELIGIBILITY:

Experience:⠀Two (2)⠀years of⠀experience⠀at Local⠀1000⠀performing⠀duties as⠀a⠀secretary,⠀or three⠀(3) years⠀of⠀experience⠀in a⠀responsible⠀secretarial⠀position.

Other:⠀Proficiency⠀in typing⠀of 55 to⠀65 words a⠀minute.

Salary ranging from $3,804 to $5,496
