  • This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop foundational skills in pharmacy operations. You will build competence in dispensing, delivering medications, and mastering pharmacy technology, procedures, and regulatory compliance standards.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Gain proficiency in medication dispensing and delivery using pharmacy information systems, technology, and automated tools for medication storage and distribution.
    • Learn to prepare non-sterile products in accordance with USP, state, and federal guidelines.
    • Develop skills in processing medication orders via the pharmacy computer system.
    • Handle and resolve phone inquiries from patients, nurses, physicians, and other team members, ensuring issues are addressed or escalated appropriately.
    • Adhere to and document pharmacy procedures, meeting legal, regulatory, and departmental requirements.
    • Maintain compliance with controlled substance procedures, USP guidelines, and accreditation standards such as DNV.

    Licensure, Registration, and Certification Requirements

    • Wisconsin Licensure (or equivalent for Illinois):
      • Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Student.
      • Obtain certification (CPhT) from PTCB or ExCPT within two years of hire, or sooner if required by law.
      • Must attempt the certification exam at least once within the first year of employment.
    • Immunization and Injectable Certification (for patient-facing roles):
      • Certification must be state-approved or accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or the Wisconsin Pharmacy Examining Board.

    Education and Experience

    • Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Experience Required: None required; entry-level candidates are welcome.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Strong mathematical aptitude.
    • Exceptional attention to detail.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficient interpersonal abilities for teamwork and customer interactions.
    • Basic computer literacy.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

    • Operate necessary pharmacy equipment, including keyboards and syringes.
    • Frequent fine motor movements with hands and wrists.
    • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and push/pull up to 30 lbs. using proper techniques.
    • Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, twisting, and reaching.
    • Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch are essential.
    • May encounter chemical hazards during tasks.
