The Respiratory Fit Test Technician plays a key role in ensuring that employees, students, and volunteers who are required to wear respiratory protection meet the necessary health and fit requirements. The technician conducts medical screenings and fit tests to ensure the safety and effectiveness of respiratory protection devices, following Rush's mission, vision, and ICARE values. The role also includes data entry, coordination with other departments, and potentially working outside the RUMC campus.

Required Qualifications:

  • Training in qualitative and quantitative fit testing, along with PAPR (Powered Air Purifying Respirator) training.
  • Flexibility with work hours, including occasional weekends.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with large groups of people.
  • Proficiency in data entry and completing large volumes of documentation.
  • Reliable transportation for off-campus testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Mobile Mask Fit Testing: Responsible for conducting fit-test screenings for respiratory protection.
  2. Medical Screening: Utilize baseline medical questionnaires conducted by a Licensed Healthcare Practitioner (LHCP) to assess whether individuals meet fitness requirements for respiratory protection.
  3. Documentation: Record fit test results (qualitative or quantitative) in healthcare worker/student health files within Employee Corporate Health Services.
  4. Follow-up Testing: Conduct additional fit tests if there are changes in the employee's physical condition (e.g., significant weight gain/loss, facial scarring, dental changes, or surgery) that could affect respirator fit.

Additional Information:

  • Keep the MST Coordinator and ECHS Director informed on testing progress and any issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
