Summary:⠀This⠀position⠀will⠀perform⠀routine⠀and⠀non-routine⠀scientific⠀assignments.⠀This⠀position⠀will be⠀responsible⠀for⠀conducting,⠀occasionally⠀planning,⠀designing,⠀appraising⠀the more⠀basic⠀routine⠀and⠀non-routine⠀evaluations⠀and⠀projects⠀of limited⠀scope.⠀Participation⠀in⠀portions⠀of larger⠀and more⠀diverse⠀projects⠀is⠀expected.⠀This⠀position⠀will⠀receive⠀guidance⠀and⠀technical⠀advice⠀from a⠀Senior⠀Scientist.

Essential Duties:

The⠀primary⠀focus of⠀this⠀position⠀will be to⠀perform⠀various⠀lab⠀experiments⠀and gather⠀technical⠀data on a⠀variety of⠀commercial⠀roof⠀materials⠀including⠀but not⠀limited to⠀single-ply⠀membranes⠀made of⠀TPO or⠀PVC,⠀Polyiso⠀insulation,⠀roofing⠀accessories,⠀adhesives⠀and⠀coatings.
This⠀position⠀will need⠀to 1)⠀build⠀prototypes⠀and⠀operate⠀multiple⠀instruments⠀in the lab⠀(Instron,⠀TGA, DSC,⠀DMA and⠀Rheometer)⠀which can⠀help in⠀the⠀fundamental⠀understanding⠀of product⠀performance⠀and⠀issues. 2)⠀Preparing⠀experiment/testing⠀reports,⠀3)⠀Follow-up⠀with⠀vendors⠀and⠀customers⠀to get⠀feedback⠀4)⠀Improving⠀laboratory⠀testing⠀variability⠀and design⠀of⠀experiment⠀to create⠀higher⠀quality⠀data, 5)⠀support⠀plant⠀trials as⠀needed by⠀working⠀closely⠀with the⠀manufacturing⠀plants
Responsible⠀for: 1)⠀maintaining⠀lab⠀records in⠀accordance⠀with⠀accepted⠀research⠀laboratory
practices⠀and GAF⠀protocols,⠀2) SOP,⠀JSA, and⠀SDS⠀maintained⠀or updated⠀3)⠀Handling⠀major⠀project⠀tasks⠀involving⠀longer⠀duration⠀and other⠀groups.
Responsible⠀for; 1)⠀the⠀preparation⠀and⠀shipment⠀of⠀chemicals⠀and goods⠀related to⠀the duties⠀of the⠀position,⠀and 2)⠀procuring⠀and⠀maintaining⠀lab⠀supplies,⠀equipment,⠀and⠀chemicals⠀as⠀needed.
Responsible⠀for⠀laboratory⠀safety and⠀maintenance⠀of Hazcom⠀and⠀environmental⠀compliance⠀in⠀accordance⠀with EPA,⠀OSHA, and⠀company⠀policies⠀and rules.⠀Company⠀will⠀provide⠀training.
Perform⠀other⠀duties⠀assigned⠀by the⠀supervisors.
Assist⠀in plant &⠀field test⠀trials and⠀investigations⠀of product⠀& process⠀problems.
Participation⠀in⠀meetings⠀with⠀suppliers,⠀production,⠀purchasing,⠀code⠀compliance⠀and⠀marketing⠀personnel.

Under This Roof, We Require

AS or BS⠀in⠀Chemistry,⠀Materials⠀Science,⠀Industrial⠀or⠀Chemical⠀Engineering-related⠀fields⠀preferred.
+2⠀years⠀working in⠀an⠀industrial⠀laboratory⠀environment.

Under This Roof, We Also Value

General⠀knowledge⠀of⠀polymers⠀and⠀chemicals⠀as well as⠀exposure⠀to process⠀operations⠀is⠀preferred.
Hands-on⠀knowledge⠀with⠀mechanical⠀&⠀analytical⠀testing⠀equipment.
Experience⠀with⠀product⠀development⠀and R&D⠀(Commercial⠀roofing⠀experience⠀preferred).
Experience⠀with⠀adhesive/sealant⠀is⠀preferred.
Experience⠀in roofing⠀or⠀building⠀materials⠀also a⠀plus.
Must⠀work⠀safely,⠀being⠀safety⠀conscious⠀at all⠀times.
Must⠀be a⠀self-starter,⠀and able⠀to work⠀independently,⠀as well as⠀be a team⠀player.⠀Must have⠀strong⠀problem-solving⠀skills.
Must⠀be capable⠀of⠀communicating⠀effectively⠀in written⠀and verbal⠀form
Must⠀work⠀cooperatively⠀with⠀corporate⠀personnel,⠀customers,⠀vendors,⠀plant⠀staff, and⠀teammates⠀and⠀demonstrate⠀good⠀interpersonal⠀skills.
Must⠀be capable⠀of writing⠀technical⠀reports.
Must⠀be capable⠀of lifting⠀objects up⠀to 50⠀pounds.
Must⠀be⠀organized⠀and neat⠀and⠀maintain⠀the lab in⠀that⠀condition.
Be⠀able to⠀travel⠀occasionally.
