We’re seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our team and contribute to our life-changing mission. In this role, you will be pivotal in ensuring medications are promptly and safely delivered to patients, while supporting our core values of Hope, Compassion, Discovery, Collaboration, and Commitment to Excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispense Medications: Fill inpatient prescription requests for Unit Dose Cassettes and other SRAlab sites of care.
- Prepare and Deliver Medications: Prepack tablets, capsules, and liquids under pharmacist supervision. Prepare injections and I.V. admixtures.
- Order and Inspect Drugs: Order medications and supplies from wholesalers and other pharmaceutical sources. Ensure accuracy upon receiving incoming drug merchandise.
- Manage Stock: Monitor inventory for expiration dates, return outdated drugs for credit, and maintain cleanliness in the pharmacy.
- Other Duties: Support additional responsibilities as assigned to enhance patient care and pharmacy operations.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Licensure: Current Illinois Pharmacy Technician license and Pharmacy Technician Certification required. Pharmacy students in good standing are not required to be certified but must provide proof of enrollment in an accredited pharmacy school.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year hospital-based experience.
- Experience with IV preparation and sterile conditions.
- Proficient in dispensing medication and compounding tablets to liquid.
- Skills:
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to interpret prescription orders, analyze discrepancies, and reorder medications as needed.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and pharmacy systems like Cerner and Talyst auto carousel is preferred.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and manage delivery carts.
Working Environment:
- Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust or extreme temperatures.
