Job Objective: The Accountant will ensure that all accounting entries within their designated area (project, contract, or service line) are accurately and promptly recorded. This includes timely reporting of financial data to internal business stakeholders and external clients. Financial reporting will encompass forecasts, budgets, and ad-hoc financial analysis, with a focus on preventing financial surprises. The role may also involve overseeing a small team.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accurate Accounting Entries:
    • Ensure all accounting entries are prepared accurately and in compliance with corporate deadlines.
  2. Timely Invoice Preparation:
    • Prepare invoices in a timely manner, ensuring they align with the commercial terms of the contract.
  3. Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    • Ensure financial results are accurately reported and analyzed for key insights.
  4. Profitability Management:
    • Calculate billing and cost rates, analyze margins, and take necessary steps to manage profitability.
  5. Planning & Forecasting:
    • Collaborate with the Business Management and Finance teams to prepare the annual plan and quarterly reforecasts.
  6. Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with the Financial Management Framework within the scope of the role.
  7. Cash Collection & DSO Optimization:
    • Focus on cash collection, optimize Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), minimize unbilled items, and ensure proper reconciliation and control of balance sheet areas.
  8. Audit Liaison:
    • Liaise with external, internal, and client auditors to ensure compliance.
  9. Contractual Support:
    • Collaborate with the Business Manager and Contracts Administrator on contractual aspects.
  10. Ad-Hoc Financial Analysis:
    • Perform various ad-hoc financial analyses and complete additional tasks as required.

Qualifications:

  • Further education through College or University with a recognized accounting qualification.
  • Preferably pursuing or holding certifications such as CIMA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • 1 – 2 years of accounting experience.
  • Proficient in using Excel.
  • Experience supervising a team is a plus.
  • Strong commercial knowledge and understanding of financial systems.
  • Systems experience with platforms such as Oracle or Hyperion is preferred.
