Role Overview: Plant Operator

As a Plant Operator at MSK, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and operational environment in our outpatient facilities. You’ll work with building machinery and equipment to ensure smooth operations, contributing to the comfort and safety of our patients and staff. If you are enthusiastic about customer service and maintaining building systems, this position is an ideal fit for you.

Key Responsibilities

• Building Systems Operation: Inspect, test, and operate building machinery and equipment for safe and efficient performance.
• Maintenance: Maintain, repair, replace, and install physical plant equipment parts.
• Documentation: Keep records of routine maintenance, service requests, and inventory per department policies.
• Customer Service: Provide professional and courteous service when responding to inquiries and requests.
• Workspace Maintenance: Maintain a clean and secure workspace, ensuring tools and equipment are properly cared for.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety and infection control standards established by institutional and regulatory bodies.

Key Qualifications

• Customer Service: Strong customer service skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
• Certifications:
  • Required: FDNY Q-01 Refrigerating System Operating Engineer certification.
  • Preferred: NYC certifications, including G17, G35, G48, B29, S12, S13, A35, F60, G71, P98, and P99. (All certifications required within 6 months of employment.)
• Core Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook; able to handle routine and non-routine tasks independently.
• Other Attributes: Collaborative, team-oriented, adaptable to changing needs, and passionate about service excellence.

Work Schedule

This role supports a facility staffed 24/7, so working hours and days will vary based on departmental and institutional needs.
