This⠀position⠀coordinates⠀and⠀facilitates⠀day-to-day⠀support of⠀Pharmacy⠀department⠀quality⠀and⠀compliance⠀assessments⠀and review⠀of other⠀business⠀unit⠀requirements.⠀This⠀position⠀also plans⠀and⠀executes⠀all⠀auditing,⠀internal⠀and⠀external,⠀for the⠀business⠀unit as⠀well as⠀standard⠀day-to-day⠀retail⠀pharmacist⠀functions.⠀This⠀position⠀ensures⠀adherence⠀and⠀compliance⠀with⠀Federal⠀and State⠀Pharmacy⠀laws,⠀rules, and⠀regulations.⠀In⠀addition,⠀this⠀position⠀also⠀assists⠀with plans⠀for all⠀necessary⠀emergency⠀responses⠀with the⠀assistance⠀of the⠀Director⠀of⠀Pharmacy.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts⠀site⠀visits to⠀assess⠀compliance⠀with⠀department⠀policies⠀and⠀procedures⠀and other⠀federal,⠀state, and⠀local⠀regulatory⠀agencies.
- Offers⠀peer-to-peer⠀sessions⠀with⠀pharmacist⠀staff for⠀improvement⠀suggestions⠀and follow⠀up on⠀consistent⠀practices⠀throughout⠀the⠀pharmacies.
- Maintains⠀all⠀regulatory⠀information⠀for⠀department,⠀including⠀but not⠀limited to⠀FBOP⠀licenses,⠀DEA, OSHA,⠀and 340B⠀registration.
- Performs⠀all⠀quality⠀processes⠀for USP⠀800⠀compliance⠀as the⠀“qualified⠀person”⠀by⠀training⠀in the USP⠀800⠀requirements⠀and⠀ensures⠀policies⠀and⠀procedures⠀are⠀reflective⠀as the⠀entity’s⠀declared⠀assessment⠀of⠀needs.
- Ensures⠀licensing⠀is up to⠀date and⠀on file⠀for all⠀pharmacy⠀employees⠀and said⠀licenses⠀are⠀provided⠀to⠀credentialing⠀and/or HR⠀as⠀needed.
- Provides⠀training⠀as needed⠀for⠀regulatory⠀and⠀compliance⠀topics.
- Performs⠀regulatory⠀evaluations⠀of each⠀pharmacy⠀location⠀to ensure⠀regulatory⠀compliance⠀for all⠀pharmacy⠀types,⠀including⠀but not⠀limited to⠀community⠀pharmacy,⠀FBOP, DEA,⠀mail⠀delivery⠀and⠀delivery⠀operations.
- Primary⠀resource⠀for⠀consultant⠀pharmacist’s⠀duties for⠀Health⠀Care⠀District⠀activities.
- Audits⠀controlled⠀substance⠀dispensing⠀and⠀reporting⠀at all⠀pharmacy⠀locations,⠀especially⠀those⠀involved⠀in SUD⠀program⠀dispensing.
- Files⠀all⠀necessary⠀reports⠀with⠀regulatory⠀agencies⠀regarding⠀diversion⠀of⠀controlled⠀substances.⠀Assists⠀pharmacy⠀team with⠀security⠀processes⠀involving⠀cash⠀movement.
- Runs,⠀analyzes,⠀and⠀develops⠀reports in⠀the⠀pharmacy⠀software⠀system to⠀improve⠀quality.
- Utilizes⠀reports⠀and Excel⠀data⠀managing⠀to⠀organize,⠀interpret,⠀validate,⠀and⠀conduct⠀root cause⠀analysis⠀on⠀medication⠀errors and⠀process⠀breakdown.
- Validates⠀compliance⠀at⠀pharmacy⠀level with⠀340B⠀program.
- Works⠀with⠀Director⠀of⠀Pharmacy⠀Operations⠀as liaison⠀with⠀Primary⠀Care⠀Clinic and⠀Executive⠀staff for⠀340B⠀compliance⠀issues and⠀updates.
- Ensures⠀adherence⠀to and⠀compliance⠀with⠀Federal⠀and State⠀laws,⠀rules, and⠀regulations⠀governing⠀the⠀practice⠀of⠀pharmacy.
- Monitors⠀and⠀administers⠀the⠀District’s⠀340B⠀Program,⠀including⠀but not⠀limited to⠀separation⠀of⠀inventory,⠀inventory⠀tracking,⠀and⠀appropriate⠀patient⠀dispensing.
- Audits⠀340B⠀prescription⠀and⠀inventory⠀utilization⠀for⠀regulatory⠀compliance⠀with⠀Office of⠀Pharmacy⠀requirements⠀from HRSA,⠀including⠀but not⠀limited⠀eligible⠀patient⠀and⠀eligible⠀prescription⠀verification.
- Conducts⠀site⠀visits to⠀assess⠀compliance⠀with⠀department⠀policies⠀and⠀procedures⠀and other⠀federal,⠀state, and⠀local⠀regulatory⠀agencies.
- Reads⠀and⠀interprets⠀physicians’⠀orders for⠀the⠀purpose of⠀clinical⠀review⠀and/or⠀dispensing⠀prescription⠀formulations.
- Fills⠀prescriptions⠀with⠀proper⠀medications⠀upon⠀confirmation⠀of dosage⠀requirements,⠀when⠀required.
- Instructs⠀patients⠀in proper⠀methods/procedures,⠀and⠀ensures⠀clarification⠀of⠀instructions⠀prior to⠀dispensing⠀medications.
- Contacts⠀physicians⠀and nurses⠀for the⠀purpose of⠀ensuring⠀accuracy⠀and⠀correctness⠀of⠀prescriptions⠀as well as⠀clinical⠀review and⠀recommendations⠀(formulary⠀management).
- Formulary⠀management⠀related⠀functions⠀to include⠀but not⠀limited to⠀monitoring⠀and⠀enhancement⠀of⠀District’s⠀Pharmacy⠀formulary⠀programs.
- Assists⠀in the⠀utilization⠀of⠀analysis⠀and⠀evaluation⠀of⠀mechanisms⠀and⠀systems⠀for the⠀purpose of⠀monitoring⠀and⠀improving⠀the⠀District’s⠀level of⠀pharmaceutical⠀care and⠀cost⠀containment.
- Develops⠀and⠀implements⠀pharmacy⠀clinical⠀services⠀in support⠀of the⠀members⠀and⠀professional⠀staff,⠀under the⠀supervision⠀of the⠀Director⠀of⠀Pharmacy⠀Services.
- Monitors⠀pharmaceutical⠀regimen⠀reviews,⠀and drug⠀utilization⠀data to⠀enhance⠀current⠀clinical⠀services⠀programs⠀as a part⠀of an⠀overall⠀continuing⠀quality⠀improvement⠀program.
- Consults⠀with⠀physicians,⠀nurses,⠀and other⠀health⠀care⠀personnel⠀in⠀evaluating⠀methods,⠀procedures,⠀and⠀services⠀of the⠀pharmacy⠀department;⠀prepares⠀appropriate⠀operational⠀recommendations⠀for⠀management⠀implementation.
- Analyzes⠀and⠀assists in⠀development⠀and⠀implementation⠀of proper⠀training⠀and⠀instruction⠀for⠀professional⠀pharmacists⠀and⠀staff.
- Analyzes⠀and⠀assists in⠀development⠀and⠀implementation⠀of⠀District⠀pharmacy⠀initiatives/projects
- Responsible⠀for⠀assisting⠀the⠀Director⠀of⠀Pharmacy⠀Operations⠀in⠀reviewing/updating⠀pharmacy⠀policy and⠀procedures⠀to reflect⠀current⠀State/Federal⠀compliance
- Monitors⠀clinical⠀pharmacy⠀standards⠀of⠀practice⠀to assure⠀that such⠀professional⠀standards⠀are met⠀and/or⠀exceeded.
- Travels⠀to other⠀pharmacy⠀locations⠀and⠀emergency⠀established⠀sites to⠀perform⠀registered⠀pharmacist’s⠀duties.
- Assists⠀in⠀implementing⠀and⠀establishing⠀new⠀pharmacy⠀software⠀and⠀ensuring⠀accuracy⠀of data⠀and⠀functionality⠀of the⠀system⠀throughout⠀our⠀pharmacy⠀locations.
- Assists⠀in the⠀preparation⠀of a⠀variety of⠀records⠀and⠀reports⠀concerning⠀the⠀District’s⠀pharmacy⠀services,⠀i.e.,⠀clinical⠀pharmacy⠀reports,⠀statistical⠀analyses,⠀and⠀regulatory⠀standards.
- Assists⠀the⠀Director⠀of⠀Pharmacy⠀with other⠀assigned⠀clinical⠀initiatives/projects⠀relevant⠀to⠀pharmacy/medical⠀field.
- Conducts⠀performance⠀and⠀compliance⠀audits of⠀our⠀pharmacy⠀facilities⠀and⠀personnel⠀to ensure⠀quality of⠀care and⠀compliance⠀with⠀Federal⠀and State⠀laws,⠀rules, and⠀regulations⠀governing⠀the⠀practice⠀of⠀pharmacy.
- Analyzes⠀and⠀assists⠀Director⠀of⠀Pharmacy⠀in⠀development⠀and⠀implementation⠀of proper⠀training⠀and⠀instruction⠀for⠀professional⠀pharmacists⠀and staff.⠀Coordinates⠀and⠀oversees⠀audits⠀from⠀regulatory⠀entities,⠀including⠀but not⠀limited to⠀FBOP, DEA,⠀Fire⠀Inspections,⠀HRSA, and⠀OPA.
- Maintains⠀a valid⠀pharmacist⠀license⠀and a⠀valid⠀Consultant⠀Pharmacist’s⠀license by⠀obtaining⠀required⠀continuing⠀education⠀per⠀year.
- Monitors⠀and⠀assists in⠀the⠀maintenance⠀of⠀adequate⠀procedures/records⠀to meet⠀legal and⠀auditing⠀requirements,⠀including⠀but not⠀limited to⠀the⠀District’s⠀Pharmacy⠀Continuous⠀Quality⠀Improvement⠀program,⠀as well as⠀regulatory⠀compliance⠀associated⠀with⠀it.
- Performs⠀all⠀related⠀duties⠀under the⠀Pharmacist⠀position⠀when⠀operating⠀at⠀District’s⠀pharmacy⠀facilities.
- Emergency⠀duty may⠀be⠀required⠀of the⠀incumbent⠀that⠀includes⠀working in⠀Red Cross⠀shelters⠀or to⠀perform⠀other⠀emergency⠀duties⠀including,⠀but not⠀limited⠀to,⠀responses⠀to threats⠀or⠀disasters,⠀man-made⠀or⠀natural.
- Acts⠀for the⠀Director⠀of⠀Pharmacy⠀in the⠀latter’s⠀absence.
Qualifications:
Education:
Doctorate⠀in⠀Pharmacy⠀from an⠀accredited⠀U.S.⠀College of⠀Pharmacy⠀institution⠀required.
Licensure:
Valid⠀State of⠀Florida⠀valid⠀Pharmacist⠀license⠀required.⠀Valid⠀State of⠀Florida⠀Consultant⠀Pharmacist’s⠀License⠀required.⠀Valid⠀current⠀Florida⠀driver’s⠀license⠀required.
