The Package Operator at Quaker Oats (part of PepsiCo) is responsible for operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining product line machinery and equipment. This includes performing manual labor on production lines, ensuring machinery operates at optimal quality, minimizing manufacturing costs, and performing repairs as needed. The role requires teamwork, dedication to safety, and flexibility to work weekends and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing Filling and Packaging: Ensure the efficient operation of filling and packaging processes.
  • Machinery Setup and Maintenance: Set up machinery, make adjustments, clear jams, and maintain proper glue levels and viscosity.
  • Quality Checks: Perform routine quality checks to ensure packaging standards are met.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure smooth operations.
  • Data Input and Paperwork: Complete and maintain necessary paperwork, including work logs and data collection. Input data into computers using software.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with other team members to meet objectives and support other departments as needed.
  • Housekeeping and Compliance: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are followed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Requirements:

    • Must be at least 18 years old.
    • Basic knowledge of PCs and excellent communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal, training, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
    • Basic math, analytical, and technical skills.
    • Ability to work any shift, including weekends and holidays.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in environments with excessive heat, dust, and noise.
    • Willingness to comply with grooming and sanitation requirements.
    • Must be able to work over 40 hours per week and demonstrate regular attendance.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
