The Senior Telecommunications Engineer II will oversee the operations, maintenance, and support of Kirkland & Ellis' global telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and availability. This position requires hands-on experience with the Avaya Aura Platform and Microsoft Teams, resolving complex technical issues and supporting third-level escalation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maximize the reliability and functionality of telecommunications systems through traffic engineering, capacity planning, and problem resolution.
- Interface with vendors to manage system performance issues and outages.
- Provide escalation support, investigating and addressing issues raised by the team or end-users.
- Design and implement telecommunications solutions, ensuring they meet performance and security standards.
- Administer the firm's telephone and voicemail system, handling system programming and user changes.
- Perform integration and testing of technology/systems.
- Collaborate with business partners to identify cost-saving and operational efficiency opportunities.
- Maintain clear communication regarding issue resolution and project handoffs.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, providing 24/7 support for escalations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Required Experience: 8+ years in telecommunications, with a focus on Avaya Aura Platform and Microsoft Teams.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Networking, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
- Certifications: ITIL and/or Project Management certification preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Avaya System Manager, Session Manager, Communication Manager, and Aura Device Services
- Microsoft 365, Teams, and Windows Server OS
- VMware, SIP Routing, and E911
- Troubleshooting: Extensive experience with complex system troubleshooting and support.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to interact with all levels of staff.
Work Environment:
This role operates in a professional office environment, utilizing standard office equipment and remote access tools such as Citrix.
