Citrus County is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Library Aide-Courier to join our dynamic Library Services Division. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our libraries by providing direct customer service and facilitating the timely delivery of materials between branch locations. The ideal candidate will be committed to enhancing the quality of life for Citrus County residents by supporting the pursuit of knowledge and educational resources.
Essential Functions:
Courier Services:
- Operate a county vehicle daily to transport books, materials, mail, and equipment between various branch libraries.
- Ensure all deliveries and pick-ups are conducted efficiently and safely, adhering to all roadway rules and laws.
- Maintain a regular maintenance schedule and log for library vehicles.
Library Support:
- Assist in processing materials, including receiving and unpacking shipments, sorting, covering books, taping, and labeling.
- Perform repairs on books and other materials as needed.
- Use a computer for basic data entry, checking materials in and out, tracking items, and retrieving information.
General Duties:
- Set up meeting rooms, including assembling tables, chairs, and various equipment.
- Provide assistance to other library staff with tasks and projects.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the library's operations.
Minimum Requirements:
Education, Training, and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience in a clerical, library, or retail work environment, or a combination of education, training, and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registration, Skills:
- Valid Florida Driver’s License (or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida).
- Basic clerical skills, including typing.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and familiarity with mobile devices.
- Ability to obtain FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification within 90 days (Courses: IS-100.c and IS-700.b).
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- The role involves a combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Frequent carrying and lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, balancing, twisting, and reaching above shoulders.
- Requires normal visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, hearing, and speaking abilities.

Emergency Response/Recovery Activities:
- Employees are required to work before, during, or after emergencies, possibly in different locations and outside normal work hours. Emergency duties may include driving or operating county vehicles and equipment.
