Lecturer in Law

The⠀University⠀at Buffalo⠀School of⠀Law⠀invites⠀applications⠀for the⠀position⠀of⠀Lecturer⠀in Law in⠀its Legal⠀Analysis,⠀Writing,⠀and⠀Research⠀(LAWR)⠀Program.⠀The LAWR⠀Program⠀provides⠀intensive⠀skills⠀training⠀to first-,⠀second-,⠀and⠀third-year⠀law⠀students⠀with a⠀strong⠀emphasis⠀on⠀small-group⠀and⠀individual⠀learning.

This⠀position⠀involves a⠀full-time⠀12-month⠀University⠀appointment⠀for an⠀initial⠀period of⠀two years,⠀beginning⠀in the⠀summer of⠀2024 with⠀an⠀assumption⠀that at⠀least one⠀subsequent⠀three-year⠀appointment⠀will⠀follow.⠀The⠀possibility⠀of⠀renewing⠀these⠀appointments⠀after the⠀initial⠀five-year⠀period is⠀also⠀assumed.⠀Two⠀positions⠀will be⠀filled.

The⠀LAWR⠀Program⠀includes⠀two⠀courses⠀that are⠀required⠀for⠀first-year⠀students⠀and a⠀third⠀required⠀course⠀that is⠀open only⠀to second-⠀and⠀third-year⠀students.⠀This⠀Lecturer⠀will⠀initially⠀teach the⠀third⠀required⠀course in⠀the LAWR⠀Program.⠀Lecturers⠀will be⠀expected⠀to teach⠀all three⠀courses on⠀a rotating⠀basis.

The⠀Lecturer⠀will be⠀expected⠀to teach⠀one⠀section of⠀the third⠀required⠀LAWR⠀course⠀each⠀semester.⠀The Law⠀School’s⠀library⠀and⠀academic⠀staff will⠀provide⠀support as⠀needed.⠀Lecturers⠀will be⠀expected⠀to prepare⠀their own⠀lesson⠀plans and⠀research⠀and⠀writing⠀projects⠀and are⠀encouraged⠀to⠀collaborate⠀with other⠀LAWR⠀Faculty.

Lecturers⠀are also⠀expected⠀to⠀contribute⠀to the⠀intellectual⠀life of⠀the⠀school,⠀will have⠀the⠀opportunity⠀to serve⠀on faculty⠀committees⠀and vote⠀in faculty⠀meetings,⠀and will⠀be⠀encouraged⠀to pursue⠀broader⠀teaching⠀and⠀scholarly⠀activities.
