Job Summary

WebMD is looking for a Data Engineer with expertise and passion in data engineering, who is capable of supporting both front-end and back-end data operations. This individual will be responsible for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) data, modeling data for efficient reporting and analytics, and designing impactful dashboards. As a key contributor, this role will collaborate across the organization to support data architecture, scalability, and help shape strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Data Engineering:

    • Build ETL pipelines using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, and Synapse.
    • Model data to optimize reporting tools like Azure Analysis Services and Power BI.
    • Maintain and improve previously deployed software and reports (Power BI, SSIS, AAS, SQL Server).
  • Dashboard and Report Design:

    • Create and design dashboards and reports to align with business needs.
    • Present technical solutions to address complex problems constructively and clearly.
  • Knowledge Sharing & Collaboration:

    • Share technical insights with the team, lead code reviews, and mentor team members.
    • Facilitate cross-team knowledge transfer and participate actively in process improvement.
    • Foster strong relationships across departments and contribute to strategic organizational decisions.
  • Organizational Influence:

    • Lead discussions to align teams on major goals, encouraging diverse perspectives.
    • Engage in high-level organizational planning and foster a supportive team culture.

Requirements

  • Experience: 7+ years in data engineering.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Operations, or equivalent experience.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Advanced skills in SQL, data modeling, DAX, and star schema design.
    • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Azure Data Factory, and Synapse.
    • Familiarity with Power BI and self-service data tools.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience with cloud development (Microsoft Azure preferred).
    • Knowledge of machine learning and data science.
    • Experience with privacy protection standards, such as HIPAA compliance.
