Junior Financial Analyst Audio

The Audio⠀division⠀of Penguin⠀Random⠀House is⠀seeking a⠀detail-oriented⠀self-starter⠀to join⠀our team⠀as a⠀Junior⠀Financial⠀Analyst.⠀This⠀position⠀will⠀provide⠀support to⠀the⠀finance⠀team in⠀managing⠀and⠀analyzing⠀the⠀day-to-day⠀operations⠀of the⠀division.⠀Specifically,⠀this⠀position⠀will have⠀an active⠀role in⠀monthly⠀reporting⠀and⠀analysis,⠀forecasting⠀and ad hoc⠀analysis.⠀It will⠀have the⠀primary⠀responsibility⠀for⠀providing⠀support⠀for the⠀fast-growing⠀imprints⠀in the PRH⠀Audio⠀business.⠀This is an⠀excellent⠀opportunity⠀for an⠀innovative⠀and⠀motivated⠀person who⠀is looking⠀to grow⠀and learn⠀about how⠀a⠀financial⠀team⠀supports a⠀highly⠀successful⠀audio⠀publishing⠀division.

Responsibilities:

• Manage⠀monthly⠀financial⠀closings,⠀including⠀detailed⠀analyses⠀of sales,⠀cost of⠀goods⠀sold,⠀operating⠀expenses,⠀accurals⠀and title⠀count.
• Create⠀monthly⠀summaries⠀of⠀financial⠀performance⠀and key⠀performance⠀indicators⠀for the⠀Audio and⠀corporate⠀teams.
• Prepare⠀formal⠀quarterly⠀forecasts⠀for⠀corporate⠀submissions⠀using⠀Anaplan⠀software.
• Prepare⠀frequent⠀forecasts⠀for our⠀content⠀licensing⠀partners⠀of⠀potential⠀future⠀royalty⠀earnings.
• Assist⠀editorial⠀staff in⠀content⠀acquisition⠀and⠀postmortem⠀analysis⠀of⠀previous⠀acquisitions.
• Assist⠀marketing⠀staff with⠀managing⠀price⠀promotions⠀and future⠀priorities.
• Assist⠀on special⠀projects⠀(for⠀example⠀creating⠀plans for⠀new⠀investments⠀and⠀business⠀models,⠀sales⠀trend⠀analyses,⠀cost⠀studies,⠀profitability⠀analyses,⠀and⠀account⠀analysis).
• Enhancing⠀and⠀increasing⠀speed of⠀monthly⠀reporting,⠀analysis⠀and⠀business⠀intelligence⠀utilizing⠀software⠀skills⠀such as⠀Microsoft⠀Power BI.

Requirements:

• Minimum of⠀2 years of⠀relevant⠀work⠀experience
• Strong⠀PC skills,⠀including⠀proficiency⠀with Excel⠀(including⠀vlookups⠀and pivot⠀tables)⠀and⠀PowerPoint.
• Strong⠀business⠀and⠀analytical⠀skills,⠀including⠀an⠀understanding⠀of basic⠀financial⠀and⠀accounting⠀principles.
• Excellent⠀organizational⠀skills,⠀with an⠀ability to⠀multi-task⠀and⠀prioritize.
• Attention⠀to detail⠀and⠀accuracy,⠀ideally⠀combined⠀with an⠀ability to⠀see the⠀big⠀picture.
• Excellent⠀written⠀and verbal⠀communication⠀skills,⠀with the⠀ability to⠀effectively⠀communicate⠀with⠀colleagues⠀across all⠀levels and⠀functions
• Ability⠀to take⠀initiative⠀and to⠀work both⠀independently⠀and as⠀part of a⠀team.
• Prior⠀work⠀experience⠀within the⠀book⠀publishing⠀or media⠀industry⠀is a⠀plus
• BS⠀in⠀Acct./Finance⠀or MBA⠀preferred⠀(but will⠀consider⠀candidates⠀from other⠀degree⠀backgrounds⠀with⠀relevant⠀experience⠀and keen⠀interest⠀in the⠀publishing⠀industry
• Working⠀knowledge⠀of⠀Microsoft⠀PowerBI,⠀Anaplan,⠀and⠀Business⠀Objects⠀preferred
• Additional⠀to above,⠀data⠀scientist⠀skills⠀including⠀perhaps R⠀and Python⠀would set⠀you⠀apart.
• Stong⠀interest⠀in the⠀publishing⠀industry⠀and a love⠀for books⠀are strong⠀pluses
