The Revenue Accountant is responsible for generating accurate financial entries and invoices, resolving proration and tax issues, processing refunds and incentive payments, and reconciling control accounts. This role ensures that revenue accounting transactions are processed seamlessly, supports auditing, and manages discrepancies. Additionally, the position involves responding to disputes, maintaining master data in the accounting system, and performing account reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Revenue Accounting Transactions & Reconciliation:

    • Process revenue accounting transactions, clear exceptions, and raise invoices.
    • Conduct account reconciliation for customer accounts, ensuring accurate processing of financial entries.
    • Reconcile control and nominal accounts, perform fare/refund audits, and update system masters.
  • Discrepancy Resolution:

    • Identify and evaluate discrepancies in accounting data and resolve queries by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Implement and maintain detective and preventive controls to ensure accurate reporting and prevent inconsistent results.
    • Raise under-collection issues and escalate settlement delays when necessary.
  • Documentation & Reporting:

    • Ensure that financial entries are supported by adequate documentation and maintain system-based records of transactions.
    • Generate and dispatch financial documents such as receipts, invoices, payment vouchers, and other entries on time.
  • Cash Collection & Reconciliation:

    • Receipt and process daily cash collections from various airport and non-airport locations, ensuring correct posting to debtor accounts.
    • Tally collected cash with sales reports and escalate any discrepancies to supervisors or managers.
    • Update financial systems with accurate details, such as exchange rates and debtor receipts, for seamless processing.
  • Master Updates & Audit Support:

    • Assist in maintaining and updating accounting system masters, including general ledger and nominal accounts.
    • Support audit functions by ensuring documentation accuracy, resolving queries, and updating financial records.
  • Communication & Support:

    • Provide timely responses to queries from internal and external clients, including staff, finance sections, and external partners.
    • Investigate discrepancies in payments, receipts, and accounting entries and provide accurate feedback for prompt resolution.
  • Ad-hoc Assignments & Closing Procedures:

    • Assist in pre/post-closing functions and support ad-hoc assignments as required by the Supervisor or Officer.
    • Ensure timely submission of reports and participation in financial closing processes.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:

    • Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3+ years in Finance or Accounting, particularly in accounts or revenue accounting.
    • Experience in fare revenue protection, passenger flow, refunds, and revenue master management is highly desirable.
  • Skills & Knowledge:

    • Working knowledge of accounting software and office automation tools, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Strong analytical and investigative skills with attention to detail.
    • Multitasking capabilities to manage multiple accounting functions efficiently.
    • Familiarity with ticketing, fares, and Global Distribution Systems (GDS) (IATA qualifications or advanced fare knowledge would be a plus).
