The Industrial Engineer will play a key role in supervising, formulating, and implementing industrial engineering policies to improve operational performance, reduce waste, and enhance product quality. This position focuses on analyzing workflows, implementing lean manufacturing practices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement within A Lava’s manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Improvement: Analyze current manufacturing processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement changes to optimize materials, labor, equipment, and automation usage.
- Lean Manufacturing Implementation: Lead and implement lean principles (5S, Kanban, Kaizen, TPM, Six Sigma) to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Workflow & Layout Design: Design and optimize production workflows, layouts, and processes to ensure cost-effective and smooth operations.
- Capacity Planning: Evaluate current production capacity and recommend adjustments to meet production goals, optimize equipment utilization, and enhance labor efficiency.
- Data Analysis: Collect and analyze production data (e.g., cycle times, production rates, downtime) to identify trends and implement improvements.
- Cost Reduction: Identify cost-saving opportunities in material usage, labor, and machine setup, and implement cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality.
- Safety & Ergonomics: Ensure that process improvements are implemented with a focus on employee safety and ergonomics.
- Sustainability: Promote sustainable manufacturing practices aimed at reducing environmental impact.
- Collaboration: Work with production, maintenance, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to integrate process changes effectively.
- Project Management: Lead and manage process improvement projects, including timeline development, resource allocation, and performance tracking. Manage capital investment budgets for assigned projects.
- Training & Development: Provide training on new processes, develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Problem Solving: Apply root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques to resolve issues and support crisis management efforts.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, PMP) are a plus.
- Experience: 3-5 years of industrial engineering experience, preferably in manufacturing environments (bedding, textile, consumer goods, logistics, or supply chain experience is a plus).
- Skills:
- Proficiency in industrial engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to lead process improvement projects and manage timelines, budgets, and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with different departments and management.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment while ensuring quality and safety.
