The Human Resources Manager will oversee HR activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with approximately 200 employees across three locations in Georgia and Alabama. This role supports two business entities within the Surfacing Division, Rubber Designs and Sprinturf, and will be responsible for managing all aspects of HR including recruitment, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, safety programs, performance management, and policy development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Onboarding:

    • Manage the recruitment process from start to finish: headcount analysis, posting vacancies, screening candidates, conducting interviews, reference checks, and making offers.
    • Facilitate effective onboarding and new employee orientation.
    • Manage offboarding processes for departing employees.
  • Employee Relations & Counseling:

    • Provide guidance on employment terms, conditions, and policies.
    • Offer advice to managers on dealing with difficult situations and manage employee counseling/disciplinary actions.
    • Lead investigations and make unbiased recommendations on further action.
  • Compliance & Policy Development:

    • Ensure compliance with internal policies and federal/state laws.
    • Stay updated on employment law changes and develop/revise policies accordingly.
    • Manage the implementation and communication of policies to all staff.
  • Benefits & Compensation:

    • Oversee employee benefits, including health insurance, PTO, and tuition assistance programs.
    • Manage yearly open enrollment events and liaise between employees and benefit providers.
  • Workers Compensation & Safety:

    • Handle Workers Compensation claims, including filing and documentation.
    • Manage and drive the company’s safety program, including employee training and safety discipline.
  • Performance Management & Development:

    • Administer the performance management program with relevant managers.
    • Maintain and update the organizational matrix and job descriptions as necessary.
  • Other HR Duties:

    • Handle sensitive and confidential information, providing updates to the corporate HR team and senior management.
    • Participate in HR forecasting, budgetary planning, and workforce expenditures.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret employment contracts, policies, labor laws, safety manuals, and other relevant documents.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective verbal communication skills, particularly in group settings.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.

Computer Skills:


Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.

  • Experience with HRIS and/or Payroll Software systems (UKG preferred).

Additional Skills:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Experience in a Manufacturing industry is highly preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing administrative duties, employee will frequently walk, sit, and use hands/fingers for handling or feeling tasks.
  • Ability to adjust focus for specific vision tasks.

Work Environment:

  • Quiet administrative environment, with occasional exposure to manufacturing areas where PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) may be required.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel required to Chatsworth, GA and Dadeville, AL sites.
