Roosevelt University seeks a dedicated Graduate Academic Advisor to work with both domestic and international students in our master's-level programs. The advisor will provide guidance on curricular information, assist in academic planning, support course selection and career development, and help students progress towards graduation. Additionally, the advisor will contribute to recruitment and retention efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Advising & Support: Provide accurate and current information on graduate programs, helping students with academic planning, course selection, registration, and career goals.
  • Student Support Services: Refer students to relevant campus support services and resources.
  • Recruitment & Retention: Assist with recruitment and retention efforts, aiming to help students reach graduation milestones.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: Work closely with faculty, staff, and students to foster a supportive academic environment.
  • Administrative Duties: Perform administrative duties that support advising, recruitment, and retention goals.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in academic advising, student services, enrollment management, or student affairs in a college or education setting.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Cultural Competency: Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations and work in a multicultural setting.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with student information systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Service Excellence: A commitment to service excellence, embodying Roosevelt University’s core values in all interactions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Academic Advising, Education, or Higher Education Administration.
  • Experience: Previous experience as an academic or international student advisor.
  • Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with Ellucian/Banner preferred.
