Financial Accounting Analyst

The Disney Entertainment segment of the Walt Disney Company is in charge of creating, producing, and distributing our exceptional content, as well as managing the operations of our entertainment streaming services (such as Disney+ and Hulu) and our television networks. Disney direct-to-consumer (dtc) is a division within the disney entertainment segment that encompasses all consumer-oriented digital video subscription services offered by the company (disney+, hulu, and disney+ hotstar). Our primary objective is to provide global audiences with the flexibility to access content on their preferred devices, at any time or place. 

Disney Entertainment's direct-to-consumer (dtc) controllership is looking for a financial accounting analyst to join their dtc subscription revenue team. This team is in charge of overseeing the global subscription revenue and reporting processes for disney+, espn+, and hulu. This role will report to the manager in charge of financial accounting.

What You Will Do

• Perform all duties necessary for an effective and timely monthly/quarterly close, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and thorough explanation of monthly P&L to forecast and Balance Sheet variances
• Analyze and understand subscription revenue related complexities in various global regions including taxes, currency conversion, local accounting deliverables and product offerings
• Complete customer and vendor setups and process customer billings and vendor payments
• Prepare AR aging analyses and track receipts for third party partners
• Proactively identify, recommend and implement improvements in existing models and processes, including opportunities to automate processes where possible
• Effectively communicate with business partners and internal team to better anticipate challenges
• Understand and execute standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Provide support with ad hoc requests/special projects for team objectives

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Over the course of 2+ years, I have gained extensive experience in the field of accounting. 
• The ability to prioritize tasks and handle conflicting priorities effectively. 
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles (e.g., debits and credits, financial statements). 
• Possess exceptional quantitative and analytical abilities. 
• The ability to adjust and cater to different requirements and target audiences. 
• The ability to comprehend, analyze, and express the influence of internal and external factors on the business, industry, or direct processes. 
• Intermediate proficiency in excel, with the ability to analyze extensive datasets using pivot and lookup tables.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field
