Finance Controller

Job Purpose:

As the Finance Controller, you will oversee all accounting functions, ensuring that all activities are accurately recorded in a timely manner and in compliance with company procedures and statutory requirements. You will manage the month-end closing process, control payroll, accounts receivable (AR), and accounts payable (AP) functions, and provide crucial support in preparing Financial Statements, budgets, compliance, and audits.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Accounting Management:

  • Oversee end-to-end financial accounting functions, including accruals, reconciliations, and controls.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

• Invoice Management:

  • Manage timely submission of invoices, keeping the invoice submission chart updated.
  • Maintain Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) days below budget and ensure smooth functioning of outsourced services for invoice preparation.

• Receivable Management:

  • Conduct fortnightly reviews of receivables and provide a monthly summary report to management, highlighting risks.
  • Perform receivable reconciliations and quarterly balance confirmations from clients.
  • Review half-yearly credit limits and support statutory audits.

• Accounts Payable Process:

  • Ensure effective execution of the AP process, including timely invoice processing and reconciliation of financial transactions in the accounting system.

• Month-End Closing:

  • Manage monthly closing of the financial books, completing pre-closing checks and addressing exceptions to ensure financial accuracy.

• Group Submissions Review:

  • Review group company submissions for timeliness, completeness, and accuracy.
  • Analyze movements in balances, obtain explanations for significant variations, and adjust financials to align with Group accounting policies and IFRS.

• Compliance Monitoring:

  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations (VAT, Corporate Tax) and maintain proper documentation.

• Cash Flow Monitoring:

  • Monitor cash flow and report on working capital requirements.

• Team Management:

  • Allocate objectives and resources to the team to achieve work plans by deadlines and conduct timely performance reviews.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Experience: Over 5 years of experience in Finance, Audit, Management, or Accounting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• An accounting degree, preferably as a qualified accountant, with at least 5 years of relevant experience in a large organization, ideally within the travel industry.
• Strong accounting and technical skills in a service company operating in a multi-currency environment.
• Ability to analyze complex and large financial databases.
