Fabric Pattern Maker

BBJ La Tavola is seeking a talented and innovative Fabric Pattern Maker to join their dynamic team. This role is essential for creating and developing unique fabric patterns that align with the brand and client vision. As a Fabric Pattern Maker, you will collaborate closely with designers, fabrication teams, and clients to bring creative concepts to life while ensuring the production process runs smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fabric Pattern Creation: Develop innovative fabric patterns and prototypes to meet real-time event needs.
• Collaboration & Idea Generation: Engage with team members and custom team in brainstorming sessions to gather insights, ideas, and creative solutions.
• Problem Solving & Productivity: Troubleshoot and solve issues as they arise, while continuously improving productivity and efficiency in the workflow.
• Fabric Quality Control: Recognize defective or inconsistent fabrics, including color variations, and identify potential fabric issues before cutting.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of fabric patterns, modifications, and any changes made to accommodate different sizes or client requests.
• Physical Requirements: Capable of standing, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 lbs. in a fast-paced, high-energy work environment.
• Organizational Maintenance: Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
• Additional Duties: Assist with other tasks as needed, supporting the team in various stages of production and design.

Qualifications:

• Design Skills: Proven ability to create new designs and patterns from concept to prototype.
• Technical Skills: Knowledge of automated cutting equipment is desirable; experience with CAD, Adobe Illustrator, or similar design software is a plus.
• Fabric Knowledge: Expertise in handling various fabrics, including understanding textile terminology, woven and knit fabrics, and the nuances of unstable and specialty fabrics.
• Sewing and Construction Skills: Familiarity with garment and/or drapery construction sewing, as well as matching plaids, stripes, and pattern repeats.
• Digital Pattern Creation: Ability to create custom digital cutting patterns.
• Attention to Detail: Strong focus on precision and the ability to troubleshoot potential issues in fabric before production.
• Computer Proficiency: Basic computer skills including data entry, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Soft Skills: Excellent work ethic, communication skills, and problem-solving ability.

• The role requires comfort working in a high-energy, high-production environment where tasks are constantly changing. You will be expected to maintain organization, cleanliness, and safety while performing the role's duties.
