Executive Writer

The⠀Executive⠀Writer⠀will work⠀as a key⠀member of⠀the⠀Integrated⠀Marketing⠀Communications⠀team and⠀will be⠀responsible⠀for⠀developing⠀compelling⠀content⠀that⠀effectively⠀communicates⠀the⠀vision,⠀mission,⠀and values⠀of⠀Pepperdine⠀University⠀in the⠀voice of⠀several⠀key⠀executives.⠀The⠀Executive⠀Writer⠀will⠀produce⠀written⠀materials⠀including⠀internal⠀and⠀external⠀communications,⠀speeches,⠀presentations,⠀and⠀written⠀and⠀digital⠀reports.⠀All⠀communications⠀should⠀reflect⠀Pepperdine’s⠀brand and⠀key⠀messages.

Duties

• Ideate,⠀write, and⠀edit key⠀communications⠀on behalf⠀of⠀University⠀executives⠀including⠀speeches,⠀presentations,⠀written⠀and⠀digital⠀reports,⠀and⠀internal/external⠀communications.⠀Learn the⠀voice of⠀key⠀executives⠀and⠀display an⠀ability to⠀write key⠀communications⠀on behalf⠀of several⠀executives⠀at the⠀University.
• Review⠀executive⠀content⠀and⠀collaborate⠀with and⠀advise⠀Pepperdine⠀executives⠀on their⠀written⠀and verbal⠀communications.⠀Ensure all⠀written⠀communications⠀are in⠀accordance⠀with the⠀Pepperdine⠀brand and⠀reflect⠀the values⠀and tone⠀of the⠀institution,⠀fully⠀adhering⠀to style⠀and brand⠀guidelines.⠀Ensure all⠀written⠀materials⠀are⠀accurate⠀and⠀professional⠀in⠀tone.
• Assist⠀the⠀Integrated⠀Marketing⠀Communications⠀team of⠀writers on⠀other⠀editorial-related⠀tasks.
• Research⠀and⠀connect⠀with⠀internal⠀stakeholders⠀to obtain⠀and⠀independently⠀identify⠀key⠀information⠀necessary⠀to write⠀compelling⠀and⠀accurate⠀content.
• Perform⠀other⠀duties as⠀assigned.
• Uphold⠀University⠀mission⠀through⠀work⠀performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:⠀BA in⠀English,⠀communications,⠀or related⠀discipline.⠀Five years⠀of⠀experience⠀in⠀editorial,⠀content,⠀or⠀copywriting/editing⠀capacity.⠀Must have⠀a⠀portfolio⠀of writing⠀samples.⠀Excellent⠀written,⠀verbal,⠀and oral⠀communication⠀skills.⠀Google⠀Apps. HTML⠀proficiency⠀and⠀understanding⠀of content⠀management⠀systems.

Preferred:⠀MA or⠀graduate⠀coursework⠀in English⠀or related⠀discipline.⠀Experience⠀supporting⠀executive⠀leadership⠀and⠀collaborating⠀with⠀C-suite-level⠀professionals⠀is a plus.⠀Must be⠀ready to⠀work in a⠀high-pressure,⠀fast-paced⠀work⠀environment.⠀Higher⠀education⠀or⠀corporate⠀experience.

This⠀is a⠀Regular,⠀Exempt, 40⠀hour per⠀week⠀position.

Expected⠀Pay Range:⠀$64,480.00⠀-⠀$70,000.00⠀per⠀year

The⠀above pay⠀range⠀reflects⠀what⠀Pepperdine⠀University⠀reasonably⠀expects to⠀pay for⠀this⠀position⠀at time of⠀posting.⠀Actual⠀compensation⠀may vary⠀based on⠀relevant⠀factors⠀such as⠀work⠀experience,⠀market⠀conditions,⠀education/training,⠀and skill⠀level. In⠀addition⠀to base⠀pay,⠀Pepperdine⠀offers a⠀robust and⠀highly⠀competitive⠀benefits⠀package.
