The Equipment Services Associate is responsible for the distribution, inventory management, and cleaning of medical equipment throughout the hospital. This role involves ensuring proper inventory control, maintaining equipment cleanliness, and delivering excellent customer service to support the clinical and patient care teams. The position requires strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a focus on infection control and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Equipment Management: Distribute and manage medical equipment (beds, pumps, cables, etc.) for inpatient areas, emergency departments, and surgical units.
  • Cleaning & Sanitization: Clean medical equipment in soiled utility areas, ensuring proper infection control standards are met.
  • Inventory Control: Maintain and monitor stock levels, ensuring the availability of medical equipment. Perform floor sweeps to redistribute excess equipment.
  • Repair Management: Transport broken equipment to healthcare technology management (HTM) for repairs and retrieve repaired items as needed.
  • Customer Service: Respond promptly to customer service requests, communicating any delays or issues to supervisors. Provide first-step resolution to open issues.
  • Compliance & Safety: Follow hospital policies, safety guidelines, and proper lifting techniques when handling materials and equipment.
  • Training & Development: Participate in in-service training programs to enhance job performance and customer service skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Skills:
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
    • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to handle multiple requests in a fast-paced, stressful environment
    • Comfort with data entry and technology use
  • Physical Requirements: Knowledge of safe lifting techniques and the ability to lift and transport medical equipment and supplies.
