The Employee Relations Manager will lead the Employee Relations (ER) unit, delivering efficient ER operations and providing support to various business areas within the group. This role will involve leading a team of advisors/partners in employee relations matters, ensuring processes align with company values, and promoting positive employee relations through good practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership:

    • Lead a team of ER Advisors/Partners responsible for guiding business leaders on HR policies, ensuring fair and consistent application to foster positive employee relations.
  • Operational Management:

    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Employee Relations unit, ensuring alignment with the broader HR strategy to optimize service delivery and productivity.
  • Employee Development:

    • Mentor and develop employees through onboarding, training, performance management, and ensuring team morale and motivation are maintained.
  • Complex Case Management:

    • Manage escalated or complex ER cases, acting as a liaison with Group Legal on cases that may result in potential legal action.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:

    • Maintain strong working relationships with HR Business Partners, Centers of Excellence, and other teams to provide proactive and positive ER services.
  • KPI Development:

    • Design and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational reports, ensuring continuous improvement and service excellence within the ER unit.
  • Resource Planning:

    • Forecast volumes and manage the handling of ER inquiries, providing input into resource and budgetary needs.
  • Leadership of Specialist Teams:

    • Lead and oversee other specialist colleagues/teams within the ER unit, such as workforce management and HR analytics.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education:

    • Degree or Honors (12+3 or equivalent) in a relevant field.
    • Post-graduate qualification in a HR-specific field is an asset.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum 8+ years of progressive experience in Employee Relations and Human Resources.
    • In-depth knowledge of Employment Relations practices.
  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Customer-focused, with the ability to design services that meet diverse customer needs.
    • Strong relationship-building and communication skills at all organizational levels.
    • Flexible problem-solving skills, balancing policy, best practice, and legal considerations.
    • Comfortable with data and analytics to demonstrate impact and return on investment.
    • An inspiring leader capable of engaging both the team and the wider organization.
    • Strong project management experience in a live environment.
    • Self-motivated with a growth mindset and intellectual curiosity.
