As the Director of Operational Compliance, you will be responsible for overseeing TransUnion’s conformance with new compliance and regulatory requirements. This role requires leadership to operationalize, prioritize, and implement all new compliance rules and regulations, ensuring timely and accurate execution. You will work closely with senior leadership and fulfillment teams to manage compliance-related tasks, resolve issues, and drive operational excellence in regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance Management
- Operational Compliance Oversight: Lead and manage responses to regulatory requirements, audits, and supervisory actions, ensuring the accurate implementation of compliance measures across Global Operations.
- Strategic Compliance Planning: Create and execute proactive operational plans in response to impending supervisory guidance and enforcement actions, maintaining alignment with TransUnion’s regulatory compliance goals.
- Regulatory Gap Analysis: Identify operational compliance gaps, assess new regulatory requirements, and develop execution plans to address them. Ensure comprehensive compliance across enterprise operations.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Coordination
- Stakeholder Engagement: Advise business units on the impact of regulatory matters, helping them understand how compliance requirements affect their operations and helping to ensure regulatory adherence.
- Cross-Organizational Coordination: Lead and coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries across departments such as Legal, Compliance, Global Operations, Technology, and Consumer Operations.
- Collaboration with Regulators: Facilitate the coordination and timing of regulatory responses between external regulators and internal teams, ensuring smooth execution of audits, exams, and supervisory actions.
Leadership and Reporting
- Senior Leadership Communication: Provide regular operational compliance reports to senior and executive management, highlighting progress, constraints, risks, and updates on regulatory inquiries and exams.
- Project and Team Management: Supervise the coordination and execution of operational compliance initiatives, ensuring internal audit functions are properly aligned and that execution plans meet deadlines and objectives.
- Regulatory Process Management: Oversee the cataloging and monitoring of regulatory deliverables and ensure all milestones related to inquiries, exams, or actions are met in a timely manner.
Continuous Improvement and Controls
- Operational Enhancements: Analyze business processes and recommend improvements to enhance TransUnion’s regulatory compliance position. Ensure all controls are in place to mitigate the risk of regulatory breaches.
- Compliance Documentation: Ensure that compliance policies and remediation plans are documented effectively and that all changes to regulatory requirements are controlled and managed properly.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degrees in law, business, or related fields preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in financial services, with a strong background in regulatory compliance or risk management, ideally within a highly regulated environment.
- Extensive experience in managing compliance functions and navigating regulatory audits and examinations, including federal regulators and consumer protection laws (UDAAP, FCRA).
Specialized Knowledge
- Expert in Compliance Laws: In-depth knowledge of consumer protection laws (UDAAP, FCRA) and experience in managing compliance-related objectives in the financial services sector.
- Regulatory Interaction: Proven experience interacting with federal regulators and managing audits and regulatory reviews.
- Risk Management: Familiarity with managing risk, including escalation processes and issue resolution through monitoring and reporting.
