Director Creative Incubator

The Creative Incubator Director will play a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of the Creative Complex, which includes hosting a cafe, curating events, and developing strategic partnerships. This individual will work to reclaim the community's narrative, support cultural programming, and advance the creative economy through initiatives like storytelling, performance events, and collaborations with other cultural institutions. The Director will also help establish and nurture creative enterprises within the Forum, such as Metropolis Gallery and Black Box performance space.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the establishment and operations of both the physical and online spaces for the Creative Incubator, including the cafe.
• Manage vendor contracts, office operations, and budgets to increase Forum profitability, enhance occupancy rates, and drive traffic to the venue.
• Lead the hiring, training, and performance evaluations of the cafe team while ensuring exceptional service standards.
• Resolve employee and guest incidents, ensuring a safe and positive environment for all.

Event Programming & Cultural Engagement:

• Curate storytelling and musical performances, expanding the cultural and creative events in the community.
• Develop joint initiatives with other creative organizations to enhance the creative economy and support community revitalization.
• Work closely with Build Bronzeville and other community leaders to ensure the forum remains a hub of cultural and artistic activities.

Strategic Partnerships & Community Building:

• Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships to expand the reach and impact of the Creative Incubator.
• Negotiate sponsorships, co-branded events, and cross-promotional opportunities that align with the Forum's mission and values.
• Manage CRM platforms to capture customer data and personalize marketing efforts, driving repeat business and customer loyalty.

Leadership & Team Development:

• Lead efforts to recruit new creative enterprises for the Forum, helping to establish spaces like Metropolis Gallery and Black Box performance area.
• Coordinate with the marketing and PR teams to execute creative guest experiences, and support PR initiatives for the Forum and associated brands.

Qualifications:

• Experience: At least 15 years of professional experience in business and creative enterprises.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft/Google Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, or equivalents).
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
• Experience in entrepreneurial management roles and institution building.
• Deep passion for Black Chicago’s culture and creative community.
