We are seeking Digital Content Producers to help elevate our digital presence by creating engaging, digital-friendly journalism. This role requires strong news judgment, creativity, and the ability to generate and edit content that resonates with a national audience. Depending on your experience, you will either be responsible for original reporting and pitching story ideas or focusing on publishing the daily news, maintaining audience engagement, and converting on-air content into digital formats.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Updating: Update NewsNation digital platforms (website, app, email, social media) with breaking and topical news of the day.
- Headline Crafting & Social Media: Write compelling headlines, teases, and social media posts to encourage user engagement with our journalism.
- Story Pitches: Pitch original story ideas daily and develop multiple angles for a single news topic, helping to move stories forward.
- Digital-First Content: Create original, digital-first content that aligns with NewsNation's mission and distinguishes our brand from competitors.
- Audience Engagement: Package content to encourage audience engagement, keeping visitors on the site longer or prompting them to view more pages.
- Data-Informed Decisions: Use audience data to inform editorial decisions and content creation.
- Editing & Publishing: Edit wire and local network-affiliated content to meet national standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
- Clip Broadcast Segments: Clip broadcast segments and repurpose them for publishing across all digital platforms and social media channels.
- SEO Best Practices: Implement SEO strategies to improve content visibility and drive traffic to digital platforms.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years of experience as a digital reporter or producer in a major market or national newsroom (additional experience may be required for some roles).
- News Judgment: Strong ability to identify when local stories have national appeal.
- Technical Skills: Experience with video editing software (Anvato, BitCentral, OBS, Latakoo) is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work early mornings, late nights, and/or weekends as needed.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Advertising, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
