As a Design & Development Manager for the Textiles category, you will play a vital role in shaping CB2’s product vision through innovative design and development strategies. This hybrid role, based in downtown Chicago, offers a dynamic environment for creative collaboration and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Director of Design & Development to create and execute unique, innovative product concepts for the Textiles category.
- Manage the complete Textile design development process, including:
- Crafting detailed creative briefs with 3rd party designers.
- Reviewing and approving final line drawings for samples.
- Specifying materials and finishes in coordination with manufacturing partners.
- Align product lines with brand strategies, ensuring growth in SKU counts and profitability while maintaining design excellence.
- Oversee vendor strategies, including vendor allocation, and negotiate favorable costs to achieve internal markup targets.
- Lead style-out presentations and design reviews, collaborating with merchandising teams.
- Provide guidance to associates, fostering talent among team members and peers.
- Conduct international travel for design inspiration, sourcing, and vendor reviews.
- Monitor vendor capabilities and performance to ensure alignment with:
- Innovation in design and production.
- Cost efficiency and product quality.
- Corporate Social Responsibility goals.
- Partner with planning teams to assess vendor capacities and optimize projections.
- Oversee team recruitment, training, and performance evaluations, ensuring operational efficiency and alignment with strategic goals.

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience in Textile design or merchandising.
- 2+ years of sourcing/product development/design in home or fashion industries.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Leadership experience with strong communication and team management skills.
- Expertise in Textile product development, including technical aspects of manufacturing.
- Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.
