 Pasco County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) is seeking a detail-oriented Data Entry Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for extensive payment processing, preparation of daily deposits, and handling various payment-related functions. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mail Sorting: Sort incoming mail, separating utility payments, solid waste, bank checks, returned mail, and miscellaneous items.
  • Mail Processing: Open any unopened mail using a mail opener machine.
  • Payment Processing: Prepare and process payments through Aperta and manually post payments as needed. Remit all payments and prepare daily bank deposits.
  • Report Balancing: Balance daily reports and research any discrepancies. Prepare and provide daily spreadsheets to the Finance department.
  • EFT Requests: Process Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) requests by entering valid information into CIS.
  • Returned Check Processing: Handle returned check payments from Finance and add associated fees to the customer’s account.
  • File Management: Pull in files (Checkfree, Metavante, Online Resources, and EFT) for payments to be uploaded into CIS.
  • Additional Duties: Perform related work as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of standard office methods and procedures.
  • Familiarity with County departments, operations, and regulations.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and analyze data.
  • Proficient in maintaining accurate and legible records/files, preparing reports, and correspondence.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and online) with the ability to interact effectively with the public.
  • Ability to make decisions and work independently without close supervision.
  • Proficient in operating personal computers and other office equipment.
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Capable of assigning work and directing data staff activities, as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Physical Skills: Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication. Ability to read small printed words and numbers rapidly and accurately.
  • Education and Experience: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. One (1) year of paid personal computer experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
