Pasco County is looking for a meticulous and organized individual to join our team as a Data Entry Operator. This role involves extensive payment processing, payment-related functions, and preparation of daily deposits and spreadsheets to be provided to the Finance department.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Mail Sorting: Sort mail by separating utility payments, solid waste, bank checks, returned mail, and miscellaneous items.
  • Mail Opening: Use a mail opener machine to open any unopened mail.
  • Payment Processing: Prepare and process payments through Aperta and handle those needing to be hand-keyed (manual posting).
  • Daily Deposits: Remit all payments and prepare the daily deposit to be sent to the bank.
  • Balancing Reports: Balance daily reports and research any discrepancies.
  • Spreadsheet Preparation: Prepare a daily spreadsheet and provide the information to Finance.
  • EFT Processing: Process Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) requests by entering valid information into CIS.
  • Returned Check Processing: Process returned check payments received from Finance and add associated fees to the customer's account.
  • File Management: Pull in files from Checkfree, Metavante, Online Resources, and EFT for payments to be uploaded into CIS.
  • Related Duties: Perform additional tasks as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of standard office methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of County departments, operations, and regulations.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and analyze data.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and legible records/files and prepare reports and correspondence.
  • Effective public interaction skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public.
  • Strong communication skills via telephone, in person, writing, and online.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions without close supervision.
  • Proficient in operating a personal computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Capability to assign work and direct the activities of data staff as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Physical Skills: Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication. Ability to read small printed words and numbers rapidly and accurately.
  • Education, Training, and Experience: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. One (1) year of paid personal computer experience.
  • Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
