Data Center Tech

As a Data Center Technician at Oracle Cloud, you will play an essential role in supporting the data center operations by installing, removing, and addressing technical issues related to hardware in server racks. The role requires you to work within a ticketing environment, ensuring adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLA) for tasks related to asset management, logistics, and hardware maintenance. Key Responsibilities

• Rack Installation & Hardware Maintenance:

  • Install and remove hardware in server racks, ensuring no disturbance to existing hardware and infrastructure.
  • Power up servers and hand them off to internal provisioning teams.
  • Address technical issues related to hardware and infrastructure within the racks.

• Inventory & Logistical Support:

  • Maintain and update the asset inventory and ensure the internal application is current.
  • Support the ORD team with spare parts logistics and track part transfers.
  • Participate in audits, including rack scanning and cycle counts.
  • Manage RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) processing and support shipping and receiving of server parts.

• Project Management & Documentation:

  • Execute small-scale projects independently and assist in larger projects alongside your manager.
  • Document activities and maintain/modify Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure smooth operations.

• Support for Onsite Activities:

  • Provide logistical support for onsite hardware activities.
  • Perform white glove delivery escort duties as necessary.
  • Address issues raised by onsite staff and management, ensuring timely resolution.

• Training & Development:

  • Participate in training programs to enhance your technical skills and align with corporate objectives.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant data center technologies and concepts.

Skills & Qualifications

• Required:
  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs.
  • Strong interest in learning new data center concepts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and shipping server parts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and follow instructions accurately.
• Preferred:
  • Knowledge of server, storage, and network hardware.
  • Previous experience with data center operations or technical support.
  • Experience using ticketing systems and adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
