As a Data Center Technician, you will play a pivotal role in the operation and success of our data centers. You will be responsible for conducting circuit maintenance, installations, and advanced testing. Responsibilities:
- Perform fiber and coax cross connect installations and terminations according to company policies and standards.
- Install ladder racks, fiber raceways, and build/install cages.
- Escalate Service Requests (SRs) that require additional information or troubleshooting.
- Conduct carrier circuit testing and intra-cage infrastructure installations.
- Install, test, and modify various types of cross connects including coax, fiber, twisted pair copper, and intra-building cross connects.
- Install and ground cabinets (Crenlo, APW, relay racks) and related cable management systems.
- Rack and stack customer equipment, ensuring proper connections and functionality.
- Maintain accurate, detailed records of all work performed, including circuit testing and modifications.
- Determine work priorities from the Oracle queue, ensuring all commit times are met.
- Install and test advanced cross connect circuits such as T1, DS3, OC3-48, Ethernet, GigE, and 10Gig.
- Conduct carrier circuit maintenance and other infrastructure installs including fiber trays, cable management, and power trays.
- Perform general duties related to infrastructure installation and other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of cable limitations (e.g., distance restrictions) and ability to handle physical infrastructure tasks such as lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.
- Familiarity with Kaba-Mas lock operation.
- Ability to read and interpret installation drawings, such as Visio diagrams and spreadsheets.
- Understanding of safe working practices, including the use of proper tools, safety gear (eye protection), and ladder safety.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, bending, and climbing, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Flexible with work hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; 4+ years of related work experience preferred.
- Preferred certifications:
- Fluke CCTT Copper or Fiber
- JDSU BERT Testing
- Digital Lightwave Testing
- BICSI Level II Copper
- FOA – CFOT
- CompTIA A+
- Basic MS Office skills.
