The Senior Data Assistant provides essential support for data entry, management, and reporting, serving as a key resource for staff on data accuracy and integrity. This role involves coordinating incoming data, preparing complex data sets, analyzing results, and compiling comprehensive reports. Additionally, the Senior Data Assistant manages data for clinical trials within the CTO, collaborating with internal and external teams to review, analyze, interpret, and present data. This position also provides consultation on data management practices and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess customer data needs and identify appropriate data solutions.
- Collaborate on various data management projects, including defining variables and storage solutions.
- Complete training for all electronic data capture systems and protocol-specific requirements.
- Abstract required patient data from medical records for case report forms (both paper and electronic).
- Adhere to data entry and query resolution timelines set in SOPs and sponsor contracts.
- Obtain and verify medical records from external facilities when needed.
- Serve as the primary contact for monitors and CROs for query resolution.
- Conduct long-term follow-ups with patients no longer in active treatment, including communication with patients, families, and physicians.
- Address sponsor/CRO data concerns and escalate as necessary.
Administration
- Ensure accurate data collection and verification for analysis.
- Provide updates and summaries of relevant statistics.
- Support administrative tasks, attend required meetings, and stay informed on disease-specific oncology studies.
- Monitor protocol compliance and communicate with the study coordinator and PI when issues arise.
- Assist with internal audit requests and contribute to CTO policies related to data entry monitoring.
Development
- Develop queries, reports, and analysis as required.
- Organize and participate in all monitoring visits, resolve follow-up issues, and assist with sponsor audit requests.
- Distribute standard reports and maintain report inventory.
Supervision
- Mentor and train entry-level data assistants.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Four years of experience in data entry or similar roles.
Competencies
- Strong understanding of complex pathology data and cancer treatment processes.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse team, including patients, physicians, and co-workers.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, critical thinking, and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, social sciences, marketing, or related field; or a relevant combination of education and experience.
- Experience in data management in healthcare, with exposure to cancer clinical trials.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with cancer-related databases.
- One or more years of customer service experience and one to two years in cancer research or clinical trials.
