The Property Tax Consultant plays a crucial role in helping clients identify potential tax savings opportunities and understanding the details of how their property taxes are computed. The Consultant works with the team to research tax-related issues, reconcile databases, and complete complex calculations. This role also involves collaborating with the taxing authority to verify issues, contributing to the overall process. The Consultant is responsible for fostering positive team experiences, ensuring excellent client service, and supporting the Firm's goals of revenue and profit growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • People: Create a positive experience for team members, promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment.

  • Client: Respond promptly to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities, ensuring timely resolution.

  • Value: Collaborate with clients and tax authorities nationwide, assisting in property inspections and client meetings.

  • Responsibilities:

    • Review and analyze client property tax records.
    • Utilize software tools to manage client data efficiently.
    • Research tax-related issues and provide relevant solutions.
    • Prepare property tax reports and manage property renditions.
    • Review assessment notices and identify opportunities for tax reductions.
    • File appeals and assist with tax incentive issues.
    • Regularly communicate with team members, clients, and tax authorities, both in writing and verbally.
    • Perform additional duties as required to support the team.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration/Management, Finance, or Real Estate.
  • Must have completed at least six (6) hours in Accounting, Economics, Real Estate, or Finance with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Relevant work experience, such as internships or previous positions in audit or tax-related roles, is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize effectively, and navigate ambiguity.
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and internet research tools.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Work Environment:

  • This position involves standard office work with occasional long periods of sitting while working at a computer.
  • The role requires regular communication with colleagues at all levels of the firm, as well as interactions with clients and external vendors via email, phone, and in-person meetings.
  • Some travel is required, approximately 10-20%.
