American Express is hiring Senior Collections Specialists within the Global Credit and Collections department to handle pre-agency and late-stage collections. This role involves collecting delinquent balances on Small Business and Consumer accounts, managing a portfolio that includes cancelled relationships and high-risk clients. The role requires strong negotiation and decision-making skills to ensure profitability while maximizing card member recovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inbound and outbound calls to discuss account statuses, consequences, and payment solutions.
  • Reduce delinquent days and prevent call and account escalations.
  • Work independently in a team-oriented, structured service center.
  • Manage multiple tasks efficiently, maintaining high accuracy under tight deadlines.
  • Engage in risk initiatives and skip tracing as necessary.
  • Maintain strict adherence to American Express practices and policies.


Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of recent collections experience or 3 years of sales experience with some collections exposure.
  • Proven negotiation skills and ability to create payment arrangements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with precision.
  • High attention to detail and understanding of American Express policies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general PC skills.
  • Knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and relevant laws.
  • Experience in commercial collections and third-party collections.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
