Description Job Description


The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will play a critical role in supporting the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and advancing the mission of MCC. This position focuses on developing and refining organizational strategies while preparing MCC for future growth in the increasingly complex field of Early Childhood Development.

Key Responsibilities


  • Ensure compliance with licensing and accreditation requirements while managing government-funded contracts to achieve and monitor goals.
  • Oversee daily operations, including hiring and managing position transitions across departments.
  • Manage organizational relationships with funders and ensure timely grant reporting in collaboration with the CEO/Executive Director.

Compliance & Audit Management

  • Work alongside the Finance Director and other stakeholders to prepare for and navigate mandatory audits.
  • Ensure organizational adherence to health, safety laws, and federal/state education mandates.

Facilities Management

  • Oversee maintenance and operations of owned and leased facilities, making cost-effective recommendations for repairs and renovations.
  • Provide expertise in lease negotiation and efficient space utilization.

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Supervise professional staff across HR, Program, and Education departments to ensure qualifications and facilitate professional growth.

Strategic & Financial Leadership

  • Plan, direct, and monitor department budgets to meet financial objectives.
  • Collaborate with executives to establish long-term strategic goals for the organization.
  • Lead complex organizational projects that align with MCC’s goals and vision.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required.
  • Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, or Early Childhood Education preferred.

  • Proven experience motivating and organizing diverse teams with varying expertise.
  • Expertise in budgeting, strategic planning, and business management.
  • Proficient in technology and systems, with a strong ability to adapt to evolving environments.
  • Exceptional organizational, time-management, and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and foster collaboration.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.

Language Requirements

  • Must read, write, and speak English proficiently.

Work Environment

  • Office-based with moderate to high noise levels.
  • May require working across multiple agency locations
