POSITION⠀PURPOSE⠀AND⠀OVERVIEW:
The⠀Chief⠀Development⠀Officer⠀(CDO)⠀provides⠀leadership,⠀strategic⠀direction,⠀and⠀management⠀for all⠀PPGNHAIK⠀fundraising⠀activities⠀across the⠀entire⠀affiliate,⠀including⠀major⠀giving,⠀direct⠀mail⠀programs,⠀planned⠀giving,⠀capital⠀campaign⠀fundraising,⠀political⠀fundraising⠀(through⠀Planned⠀Parenthood⠀Alliance⠀Advocates,⠀PPAA), and⠀special⠀events.⠀The⠀CDO’s⠀chief⠀responsibilities⠀include:
  • Leading⠀the⠀development⠀of an⠀agency-wide⠀strategic⠀vision and⠀action⠀plan for⠀fund⠀development⠀that⠀includes⠀engagement⠀of all⠀PPGNHAIK⠀constituents.
  • Fostering⠀and⠀deepening⠀a culture⠀of⠀philanthropy⠀throughout⠀PPGNHAIK⠀and⠀assuring⠀that the⠀organization’s⠀culture,⠀systems,⠀and⠀procedures⠀support⠀fund⠀development.
  • Planning,⠀coordinating,⠀and⠀assuring⠀implementation⠀of⠀strategies⠀to develop⠀donors and⠀contributions⠀to support⠀the⠀organization.
  • Assuring⠀development⠀and⠀maintenance⠀of⠀appropriate⠀systems to⠀fund⠀development,⠀including⠀but not⠀limited to⠀fundraising⠀volunteer⠀and donor⠀management,⠀research⠀and⠀cultivation,⠀gift⠀processing,⠀and⠀recognition.
  • Maintaining⠀accountability⠀and⠀compliance⠀standards⠀for donors⠀and⠀funding⠀sources.
  • Organizing⠀the work⠀of the⠀department⠀and⠀supervising⠀staff to⠀achieve⠀results.
  • Reporting⠀directly⠀to and⠀working⠀directly⠀with the⠀Chief⠀Executive⠀Officer⠀(CEO) to⠀support⠀and grow⠀the⠀CEO’s⠀portfolio⠀of donors⠀and⠀prospects.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible⠀for⠀raising⠀over $20⠀million⠀annually⠀in support⠀of the⠀mission of⠀PPGNHAIK.⠀Manages a⠀portfolio⠀of 25+⠀principal⠀and major⠀gifts⠀donors.
  • Works⠀in close⠀collaboration⠀with the⠀CEO to⠀ensure⠀successful⠀delivery⠀on⠀fundraising⠀goals and⠀objectives,⠀driving⠀strategy⠀for annual⠀and⠀campaign⠀giving,⠀managing⠀and⠀supporting⠀the⠀CEO’s⠀relationship⠀with the⠀donors in⠀the⠀CEO’s⠀portfolio,⠀and⠀directly⠀managing a⠀portfolio⠀of⠀additional⠀donors.
  • Develops⠀strategy⠀and⠀provides⠀oversight⠀of all the⠀fundraising⠀functions⠀of the⠀affiliate,⠀including⠀partnering⠀with the⠀Executive⠀Team to⠀maximize⠀opportunities⠀for fund⠀development⠀and⠀philanthropic⠀engagement⠀at all⠀levels.
  • Maintains⠀partnership⠀with⠀Planned⠀Parenthood⠀Federation⠀of America⠀(PPFA) and⠀collaborates⠀with PPFA⠀leaders in⠀managing⠀and⠀cultivating⠀shared⠀donor⠀relationships⠀and⠀federation-wide⠀fundraising⠀efforts.⠀Ensures⠀timely and⠀accurate⠀reports to⠀PPFA and⠀regulatory⠀agencies.
  • Responsible⠀for fiscal⠀management⠀of the⠀development⠀program,⠀including⠀budget⠀development⠀and⠀personnel⠀and⠀program⠀expenditures.⠀Develops⠀and⠀implements⠀yearly⠀departmental⠀goals and⠀objectives.⠀Provides⠀leadership⠀of the⠀Development⠀Team to⠀conceive⠀strategies⠀for⠀revenue⠀growth⠀throughout⠀the⠀service⠀area.
  • Serves⠀as⠀fundraising⠀staff⠀support to⠀the⠀PPGNHAIK⠀Board of⠀Directors⠀in⠀partnership⠀with the⠀CEO.
  • Provides⠀leadership⠀and⠀consultation⠀as a⠀member of⠀the⠀Executive⠀Team⠀across the⠀organization⠀to⠀identify⠀and⠀implement⠀policies,⠀procedures,⠀actions,⠀interventions,⠀and⠀tactics⠀that⠀advance⠀PPGNHAIK’s⠀work and⠀meet our⠀strategic⠀and⠀operational⠀goals.
  • Oversees⠀implementation⠀and⠀coordination⠀of⠀fundraising⠀appeals⠀and⠀activities,⠀including⠀individual⠀giving,⠀major⠀gifts,⠀planned⠀giving,⠀corporate⠀and⠀foundation⠀giving,⠀special⠀events,⠀and⠀political⠀giving in⠀partnership⠀with⠀PPAA.
  • Oversees⠀individual⠀giving and⠀major⠀gifts,⠀including⠀details⠀associated⠀with the⠀annual⠀campaign⠀and⠀personalized⠀written⠀and⠀in-person⠀solicitations.⠀Works with⠀the⠀Individual⠀Giving⠀Team to⠀identify⠀priorities,⠀cultivation⠀and⠀solicitation⠀approaches,⠀and⠀timing.⠀Through⠀outreach,⠀develops⠀relationships⠀with⠀donors and⠀prospects.⠀Develops a⠀plan for⠀the⠀identification⠀and⠀cultivation⠀of new⠀donors as⠀well as⠀current⠀donors⠀with⠀higher⠀capacity,⠀manages⠀own⠀portfolio,⠀and⠀participates⠀in direct⠀solicitation⠀as⠀needed.
  • Guides⠀the⠀development⠀of⠀proposals,⠀reports,⠀updates,⠀and⠀budgets⠀related to⠀foundation⠀and⠀corporate⠀giving,⠀for⠀general⠀support,⠀and⠀program⠀specific⠀needs.⠀Works with⠀staff⠀assigned⠀to⠀corporate⠀and⠀foundation⠀giving on⠀prospecting,⠀research,⠀and⠀cultivation.
  • Provides⠀input on⠀direct⠀mail⠀content⠀and⠀strategy⠀and works⠀with⠀PPGNHAIK⠀staff⠀assigned⠀to direct⠀mail to⠀fulfill⠀program⠀objectives.
  • Serves⠀as the⠀lead and⠀final⠀approver⠀of⠀Development⠀Department⠀correspondence,⠀talking⠀points,⠀speeches,⠀annual⠀campaign⠀collateral,⠀proposals,⠀and other⠀donor⠀communications⠀to ensure⠀accuracy⠀of message⠀and tone⠀alignment.
  • In⠀supervision⠀of the⠀Development⠀Team,⠀produces⠀fundraising⠀and⠀cultivation⠀events to⠀support⠀both c3⠀and c4⠀entities.⠀Works with⠀staff⠀assigned⠀to special⠀events and⠀Board/Committee⠀members on⠀details⠀related to⠀event⠀production⠀and sales.⠀New,⠀one-time,⠀or ongoing⠀fundraising⠀events and⠀a wide⠀range of⠀cultivation⠀events are⠀included.
  • Oversees⠀record⠀keeping⠀and⠀acknowledgement⠀of⠀donations⠀and donors⠀as well as⠀overall⠀database⠀management⠀(Raiser’s⠀Edge).
  • Represents⠀the⠀organization⠀at⠀meetings,⠀PPFA⠀conferences,⠀the PPFA⠀DOC⠀(Development⠀Officers’⠀Council)⠀affinity⠀group,⠀community⠀events,⠀conferences,⠀and⠀fundraising,⠀as⠀appropriate.
  • Manages⠀the⠀Development⠀Team,⠀including⠀supervising⠀the⠀Director⠀of⠀Development,⠀Institutional⠀Giving⠀Manager,⠀Development⠀Database⠀Manager,⠀and⠀Director⠀of⠀Philanthropy.⠀Ensures⠀successful⠀administration⠀of all⠀development⠀functions.⠀Develops⠀annually⠀the⠀staffing,⠀capacity,⠀and⠀resources⠀needed to⠀meet the⠀development⠀objectives⠀PPGNHAIK⠀sets⠀forth.
  • Promotes⠀dynamic⠀collaboration⠀amongst⠀all teams⠀across⠀PPGNHAIK,⠀including⠀strengthening⠀the⠀alignment⠀of goals⠀and roles,⠀fostering⠀open⠀communication,⠀and⠀deepening⠀a culture⠀of⠀accountability.⠀Functions⠀as a⠀facilitator⠀to manage⠀workplace⠀departmental⠀issues,⠀host⠀meetings⠀with⠀individual⠀employees⠀to hear⠀complaints,⠀and⠀explain⠀Planned⠀Parenthood⠀policy,⠀management⠀role, and⠀prerogatives.
  • Adheres⠀to the⠀PPGNHAIK⠀code of⠀conduct⠀and all⠀policies,⠀procedures,⠀and⠀protocols.⠀Meets and⠀supports⠀the⠀Affiliates⠀Compliance,⠀Quality,⠀and Risk⠀Management⠀goals and⠀policies.⠀Follows⠀current⠀policies,⠀constantly⠀assesses⠀areas of⠀risk, and⠀makes⠀recommendations⠀for⠀monitoring⠀and⠀auditing⠀to reduce⠀risk.
  • Demonstrates⠀and⠀maintains⠀a high⠀degree of⠀professionalism.⠀Supports⠀and acts⠀in⠀accordance⠀with the⠀PPGNHAIK⠀service⠀standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of⠀10⠀years’⠀experience⠀as a CDO⠀or similar⠀Development⠀Department⠀leader in⠀an⠀environment⠀where⠀development⠀is a⠀strategic⠀partner⠀with the⠀CEO, Board⠀of⠀Directors,⠀and other⠀senior⠀management
  • Certified⠀Fund-Raising⠀Executive⠀strongly⠀preferred
  • Proven⠀ability to⠀cultivate,⠀solicit,⠀and close⠀six-figure⠀gifts
  • Excellent⠀leadership,⠀interpersonal,⠀and⠀communication⠀skills⠀required
  • Experience⠀implementing⠀innovative⠀initiatives⠀within a⠀complex⠀organization

Compensation: PPGNHAIK's⠀compensation⠀philosophy⠀is based⠀on equity⠀and⠀transparency.⠀Starting⠀offers are⠀determined⠀by both⠀the⠀candidate's⠀directly⠀applicable⠀experience⠀and⠀internal⠀equity⠀within the⠀pay grade.⠀The pay⠀range is⠀$184k to⠀$340k,⠀paid⠀(annually).
