The CAD Designer (Telecommunications Civil Engineering) applies AutoCAD skills to create, modify, and finalize civil engineering designs for telecommunications and underground utility infrastructure projects. This position involves collaboration with team members, working on complex projects, and ensuring compliance with client standards and industry practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop accurate drawings to scale, depicting proposed installations and existing facilities.
- Utilize AutoCAD software to create designs using aerial images, survey data, and utility records.
- Create utility base maps, determine installation methods, and execute designs according to client and municipality standards.
- Prepare pole drawings, traffic control plans, and restoration designs.
- Maintain and update network documentation, including revisions and record drawings.
- Collaborate with design leaders and project teams on infrastructure projects.
- Ensure designs meet Talman’s QA/QC standards and client requirements.
- Train on new software and processes to enhance technical capabilities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and knowledge of civil engineering drafting standards.
- Familiarity with GIS, ROW/parcel maps, and utility atlas interpretation.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience
- 2+ years of relevant experience in drafting or design.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Work involves a combination of indoor and outdoor environments, exposure to noise, and physical activities like climbing, stooping, and crawling.
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and perform tasks requiring repetitive motions, reaching, and precise manual dexterity.
