Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Business Development Coordinator ("Coordinator) in the Marketing department, reporting to the Business Development Manager.
The role will reside in the New York office and will be responsible for supporting the firm’s business development goals for the private capital practices. The Coordinator is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service, maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Assist with the preparation and production of business development presentations, marketing materials and new business proposals.
- Coordinate with appropriate internal resources to provide competitive intelligence reports and other research to lawyers.
- Coordinate updates to practice materials and lawyer biographies on firm’s external Web site and internal proposal database.
- Assist in production and distribution of firm newsletters, client alerts, invitations and announcements.
- Assist with updating content on practice-related blogs.
- Maintain and update mailing lists in firm marketing database – InterAction – to enable external communication.
- Gather recent matter information from attorneys and advisors, and update and maintain marketing materials and firm experience database.
- Assist with the drafting of annual submissions for relevant legal directories
- Assist with practice and industry-related sponsorships, events and memberships to facilitate the development of the firm’s practice areas.
- Perform various administrative duties, including scheduling, processing invoices, preparing expense reports, etc.
Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 2-4 years prior work experience, preferable in marketing/communications/public relations
- Prior experience working within a law firm or other professional services firm preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and attention to detail; strong work ethic; and poise and professionalism
- Ability to prioritize workload, handle several projects at once, work independently and complete tasks under time pressure as necessary
- Strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are important

The base salary range for this position in New York is $71,500 to $85,000.
