    Essential Skills and Responsibilities:

    • Collaboration: Meet with the Artistic Director/Director and Technical Director (TD) to discuss vision, building deadlines, and stage limitations.
    • Design Execution: Produce preliminary drawings, renderings, ground plans, elevations, and detail drawings for sets and properties.
    • Budgeting & Construction: Assist the TD with budgeting considerations and construction challenges, ensuring the set is built within the defined constraints.
    • Paint & Set Dressing: Assist with color choices for paint and vision for set dressing, ensuring that all elements align with the artistic vision.
    • Tech Availability: Availability for set work before tech rehearsals, as needed.


    Candidate Qualifications:

    • Skills: Ability to work collaboratively, pay attention to detail, and accept constructive criticism.
    • Experience: Some experience in set design or related fields such as carpentry, painting, or lighting is helpful.
    • Technical Expertise: Familiarity with carpentry and welding basics, and the ability to create scale models of sets.
    • Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Vector Works for creating designs and documents.


    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 10 pounds frequently to move objects.
    • Requires frequent talking, hearing, walking, and standing.
    • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects, with some stooping, kneeling, or crawling.
    • Requires fine finger dexterity for detailed work.
    • Job is performed in a clean, non-hazardous environment.
