Description Job Description


The Biomedical Equipment Technician I (BMET I) is responsible for providing clinical equipment services under the supervision of TriMedx management. The role involves validating and inspecting clinical equipment for safety, completeness, and functionality, as well as performing scheduled maintenance, calibrations, and repairs. The BMET I supports complex troubleshooting and repair efforts while adhering to regulatory compliance standards and maintaining strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities:

Technical Service (40%)

  • Perform performance assurance (PA) inspections, electrical safety inspections (ESI), and operation verification procedures (OVP) on biomedical equipment.
  • Repair, install, and calibrate general biomedical equipment.
  • Inform supervisors of repair status, inspection schedules, and any issues encountered.
  • Work with subcontractors and outside service technicians to ensure proper service delivery.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain biomedical expertise.
  • Assist with special projects as assigned.

Regulatory Compliance (25%)

  • Maintain the accuracy of the equipment database, including inventory, performance assurance schedules, and service history.
  • Adhere to regulatory standards and the Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP), ensuring compliance with all applicable policies.
  • Ensure all service documentation is complete, accurate, and timely.

Account Relationship Management (25%)

  • Build and maintain relationships with customers and clinicians.
  • Communicate equipment status and functionality clearly with healthcare providers.
  • Represent TriMedx positively by integrating core values into all job interactions.

Inventory (10%)

  • Perform regular inspections of equipment inventory.
  • Ensure security analysis and incoming inspections are conducted for new equipment.
  • Maintain an accurate record of equipment, including rental, loaner, and trial items.
  • Recommend inventory improvements based on findings.

Other Duties as Assigned.

Skills and Experience:

  • Strong computer skills, including error code interpretation and troubleshooting hardware issues.
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources for problem resolution.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong communication abilities (both written and verbal).
  • Valid driver's license; travel may be required depending on primary site.

Education and Qualifications:

  • 2-year degree in a technical or electronics field, or equivalent experience.
  • The TRIMEDX Trained Certification or an equivalent biomedical-related certification program can waive the degree requirement.
  • 3 months of experience working with biomedical equipment in a clinical engineering environment is preferred.
